Walking from Dunlop Bridge to the Hunnaudieres?
« on: June 09, 2005, 11:11:07 am »
Hi all,

allthough being a regular since 85 I must admit that I never made it to the hunnaudieres , e.g. to the restaurant, to watch some action from there.

This year I made myself a promise to visit this place in outer space. Does anyone which is the best way by foot from dunlop bridge to this restaurant or some other spectator area at the Hunnaudieres? How long does it take to walk?

Cheers

Werner

From Dunlop Bridge to Hunnaudieres will take the best part of an hour to walk. Easy to find on the map on the Home page. cross the bridge over the bugatti track and head for the rauadin road & walk south.
If you can manage to get accoss the in field and sneak past the marshall you may get trackside.
Good Luck

The view is a bit restricted now during the race. They put up a lot of that green mesh stuff.

Not sure when you arriving but we have found the qualifying on Wed / Thurs to be better. Last year they didn't get the mesh up until Friday.

Cheers,

Tony

Remember the bridge over the Bugatti circuit is now a tunnel.  Find a decent map (Michelin 4?cm to the KM or download from the ACOs media section) and a compass is a good idea, as its all very confusing in the dark.

I didn't realise that there was an exit from the Bugatti bridge.  We used to slip out of the back of Houx, but I think there are proper fences now.

I hear security is going to be a lot tighter this year

Am I missing something or is the restaurant on the outside of the circuit. If you want a drink and are going on foot, you will need to over the Dunlop bridge and turn right towards Tetre Rouge and then 'follow' the track through the woods. If you going via Houx you will be on the inside of the circuit.

I am probably confused but it happens a lot these days.......

I'm just glad there will be some wombles about, drunken or otherwise the place is normally a tip by morning.  I'll be expecting to see some improvements!

If you are awake at 4 - 5am at the track opposite the pits you will see Wombles wearing woggles and clearing the rubbish!
Getting to the cafe during the race i agree with Tom get in a car or on a bike.
there is an open car park near the track but hit and miss wether it is marshalled

Of course it's not near as good as it was in untill it became a Chinky.    You can't see anything.   The sound is good though.

You used to be able to get to the Bar near the kink also but that is out of bounds now.  I've also watched from the Golf club but again you can't get there with out a permit AFAIK.
