Camping Ticket Sticky Tip
« on: June 12, 2005, 11:57:45 am »
Well, I guess most of the long term veterans of LM will already have a method for sticking the tickets to their windscreen, but for any newbies here is my advice.

The camping tickets come with a peel off section top and bottom, which reveals perhaps the most sticky, long lasting, almost impossible to remove glue which has ever been invented  :o These tickets need to be stuck in your car windscreen, and often if you have them in your hand on arrival the people on the gate will just peel off the backing and slap them on the inside of your windscreen  :(

My advice is to take a roll of Scotch tape (not sellotape, but it can be anything which peels off easily afterwards) and just prior to arrival make two loops of tape equal to the length of the ticket. Peel off the camping ticket backing and add the two loops of Scotch tape. This can now be stuck to your windscreen and peels off easily and without a mark when you leave.  ;D

If anybody else has a tip, please add it.

Thanks, an excellent idea.

Think I must've sold several cars over the past few years with two rough lines of camping ticket residue left on the screen as a bonus for the new owners!

Alternatively, you can leave the camping pass on throughout the year, intensely annoying your wife.  ;D

Just leave it on the screen, last years fell off on its own 2 weeks ago leaving a powdery line that srapped off easily. It now has a shiney new one in its place ;D ;D ;D

Steady Robbo, you'll have people guessing at an alternative lifestyle :o
I find a Stanley knife blade a good solution - that is after a reasonable time of leaving it there and leaving the glue lines in place  - both good for reminding the other half what a good time we had - guaranteed to wind her up.
I like the idea of the scotch tape though.

I leave it on until either I need a new windscreen or I need a new car or a year has passed.

Good tip though 'tis, I kind of like the two green strips along the screen too... Tells all who "know about these things" that you were at Lemans....

Why scotch tape but not sellotape? ???

I think I may try this, this year.

Scotch tape peels away much easier than sellotape. Sellotape also leaves behind a sticky residue and turns yellow and goes brittle quickly in the sun.  8)

Have to agree with Robbo, best solution is nail varnish remover, takes off the glue in seconds.

Or just take somebody else's motor home, it keeps my windscreen sparkly clean and free from residue all year round....  ::)

Rub the sticky tape against a wool sweater and then stick it to the windscreen. It will come off easily, leaving no marks.

And leaves a bald patch on your sweater.
