Nurburgring Lap Record
« on: November 15, 2005, 03:29:30 pm »
Just got back off holiday, chcking my emails I found a video clip of a Radical SR8 breaking the "production" car lap record round the 'ring.

It's a Quicktime video & is pretty impressive (if only there was sound) funny thing is the car turns into a bit of a handful at the same place I always get caught out in GT4!! :)

Makes my 13m 40s seem positively pedestrian. However that was in a fully loaded Omega 3.0, with my own tyres and a few crates of beer sliding around in the car, which completely spoilt the handling :)

It has to be said that the Donky and the Radical record were both done with cars which never ever are legal under pure German law. Since ve no longer rule ze world we have to give in to European legislation.  ;D It's somekind rediculous that cars with these kind of wings are street legal.  I wouldn't want to cross the road with such a thing flying past. Whooppss, there goes the shopping bag.  ;)
I don't care - I'm a racing driver and I'm here to win, not to finish third.

I suppose that its European legislation that made them close the Nordschlife.

6:55 isn't bad for a "road" car, when the lap record of the 956 was 6:41.  Sabine can put a Transit round there in 10:08 - It must have been a white van at that speed

6:55 is pretty damn impressive for a "road Car" ;D
Whats more impressive is the late Stefan Bellof's outright lap record (6:11) is still intact after twenty-two years.
