Yep, the Colts showed up and brought a can of whoop-ass with them.  Actually, if you score 37 points you would expect to win, but not if you can't stop the other teams offense.  Good grief, Phil Simms wants to have Peyton's love child!  He was as bad as John Madden fawning over Brett Favre.  The Steelers lost so we're still tied for the division lead at 7-3.  How 'bout them Cowboys John!

Umm, The undefeated and AFC South leading Indianapolis Colts (now 10-0) played the AFC North leading (tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers at 7-3) Cincinnati Bengals in Cincinnati yesterday.  Both are two of the most potent offensive teams in the NFL and as predicted it was a high scoring affair, the Colts winning 45-37 to remain undefeated.  Phil Simms is a former NFL quarterback who won a couple of Super Bowls with the NY Giants and now works as a TV commentator, the guy could not stop drooling over Colts star quarterback Peyton Manning.

In consideration of whether I was a flopping, floundering, support ManU this year, Chelsea next etc. type of indivual,  this weekend was a true test of which NFL team I really support.  And it turns out that like your average Chelsea or ManU fan, I had completely turned my back on the Bungles years ago - rooting for the Bucs when I lived in Tampa - and over the last 4 years have come to establish myself as a Colts "enthusiast" (I bought season tickets for the company a couple of years ago and went to a couple of games, but being generally cheap, I couldn't stand the vertigo and nose bleeds produced from our seat selection).  The last two seasons have been promising for the Colts, but like Everton, they usually let me down in dramatic ways.

So now they're on the roll, we'll see if they can do the big-un in January.

Fax - I was expecting you to have at least a cursory jab at Manning - there must be something about him that makes him deserve death isn't there?

You won't get any Manning bashing from me, the guy's a class act, wins with style and grace.  Same for Colts head coach Tony Dungy.  No bandwagon jumping here, I've  supported the Bengals and Reds through good and bad, and there's been a whole lot of bad in recent years.
Bengals DB Tory James has been christened "Toast" this morning by the local media, he was burned by Colts receivers so many times yesterday.

Andy, now you know what I mean when I say, "The words sound the same, they just mean different things."  This is in reference to some of the jabber I hear from your side of the pond that absolutely makes no sense to me.  It's like not understanding an inside joke.  Anyway, I'm glad to see you reading this stuff, makes for a more rounded conversationalist, don't you think???

As to the Cowboys, they lost their luster a long time ago when Jerry took over.  Just not the class act they once were.  BTW, when I don't really have an interest in either team playing, I ususally root for the underdog.  I'm glad I don't have to consider rooting for the Bengals because they are cellar dwellers anymore.  I truely want them to beat up on Philly, Minn, Buffalo, New England, Seattle, etc., etc.

Would have to agree about Jerry Jones, not a fan of him myself at all.  However they did have some great teams in the ninties with the big three and the Big Tuna's got something going now.  Personally I prefer the days of Tom Landry and Cincinnati native & Purcell High School grad Roger Staubach.

Hi Gab,
The Eagles are a hurting bunch without Donovan McNabb, real class act, a leader, and one of the best QB's in the game.  But I think in the long run they'll be better off without TO, the guy's a brilliant player but just too disruptive to the team.  It'll be interesting to see where he ends up, probably Oakland, they're legendary for taking nut-cases.  The Eagles pretty much threw in the towel on this season when they told McNabb to go ahead and have the surgery.

I agree, that was "America's Team".   I doubt it will ever be that way again with all the hoodlums playing ball now.
