Bear in mind this is on a motorway where clearly overtaking on both sides is allowed.

Personally I think it's a fantastic bit of driving and I was pleased he managed ultimately to beat that damn Audi. ;)

If you look at the motorway thing the car is in fact a motorbike as the dashboard has been added later. The Audi is real but always had more room for the manouvers.

Good to see the Aviation Navale strutting their stuff.  Don't suppose anyone out there has any footage of the F-8P Crusader they operated?  Regarded as the last "Gunfighter"?

Peter, There is a documentary that crops up on Discovery Wings every month or so called "The Last Gunfighter". It profiles the development and deployment of the F-8 Crusader, very interesting and some great footage of it in action in Vietnam. What amazed me is the length of time it has been in service, even seeing action in the Gulf War.
If I see it is showing again I will DVD it and send it to you.

In terms of long serving aircraft, one of all time greats is about to retire for good and anyone who was lucky enough to be at RAF Marham may have caught sight of an EE Canberra, nearly 50 years service.  The last dual control version stood down a couple of months ago and the last photo-reconnaissance versions are finishing mapping in Afghanistan.

At least some are flying in private hands for a while.

Didn't they used to fly Canberras off of HMS Victorias along with Sea vixens?

I'm no expert, but isn't the Canberra a bit short of ground clearance too?

When we make 'em we make 'em good.  Didn't the Yanks build Canberras (as well as Harriers)  Must has hurt. 

Can I add some more oldies but goldies - the Blackburn Buckaneer (Airfix kit 3 shillings)  That did fly from carriers when we had then, and was retired, what ten years ago after laser targeting in the gulf.  And the Shackelton.  That must have been retired a bit earlier, but basically was a converted WW2 Lancaster bomber (Airfix kit 6 shillings), and replaced by a converted Comet, a design all of 10 years younger.

Oh and HMS Victorious was 10/6. with Sea Vixens

Anorak head on here.  Can’t recall ever Canberra’s operating off carrier's.  Mind you what a sight.  The American most certainly did build the Canberra under license and they called it the B-57, also a number of sub-variants including a big wing model for high altitude.  Interestingly NASA still operates a derivation of this big wing Canberra with high by-pass turbofan engines and the aircraft is used for atmospheric studies.  One came over to the UK a while back as part of this work.

Don't forget that we sold the Canberra to Australia, Peru,  Venezuela, W Germany to name a few.

As an aside at one time the shak was the only RAF aircraft ever to have six engines which may be true to this day?

Been on the happy juice again Rick??  A bike would be leaning at serious angles on some of those manouvres yet the camera stays upright????
