Hey guys.
A mate and I are planning to go down to le mans this year (we live just south of london) and have been taking a look around but we're getting a bit confused with everything and wondered if you could answer a few questions for us.
First, we're going for "student" tickets but I read somewhere (I think on this site) that you could only get them on the day. Is this true? Also, what counts as a student card?
Second, we're trying to camp down there. We originally thought we would either go for Chapelle (because its cheap and close to everything) or Houx (because it's nice). However, everything we read seems to say that you need to book up to a year in advance. Do you think we would still be able to get either of these/any camping at all? If so which do you think would be the best of these to go to (this is bearing in mind of course that we are students (read skint) so money is an object).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys

Hi Chris, and welcome aboard the good ship CA.
I can't help on the student ticket - I didn't know there was such a thing - mainly because it's a long long time ago since I was a student!!
About the camping - are you driving there?? Each camp site ticket allows entry for one vehicle regardless of the number of occupants. So if you are not taking a car, you can just walk on to any site and pitch up. For most of the (better??) camp sites, yes, you have to book up very early - some people are booking their tickets now for 2007. You can forget Houx - that was sold out months ago - unless you can pick up a spare ticket on this site or elswhere. I don't know about Chappelle and ticket availability - I think that the only site left with space is Beausejour. I've never stayed there, but several CA members have and say it is a good site. The main drawback is that it is a long hike from there to the centre of the action in the Village.
Whatever, email or call the ticket office - the details are in the first thread in this Help forum - and ask what is available. The girls there speak English and are very helpful.
Hope this helps, and, as you may have gathered from this site, you better start planning for 2007 because once you've been, you will want to go again.
When do you hope to get there - all I would say is that the earlier you get there, the more fun you will have. Most of the regulars are all in place by Wednesday, and others (including myself this year) will be there on Monday.
All the best
Del

Depends how you interpret afternoon..... I will probably leave later this year, but what with the race starting later and now a decision to take a trailer (Mark does like his creature comforts) we might just miss the end again....

"Just walk on a site and Pitch up" may be an interesting point if the ACO police come around to check on passes as they did last year on MB? It would be a real pain if the decided to evict non pass holders? Probably best to make friends with the nieghbours as soon as posible (beer donations always help) and have a contingency plan.

...and don`t forget the swimming pool, hope there`s room for that Without doubt. I reckon we could squeeze nearly everything except the loungers and fridge in the car. However George, I'm curious as to why the pool is so important. Nothing to do with Fran's swimsuit being left overnight with you to dry I trust???
