Hey dude, welcome back to planet Le mans. I suppose they wouldn't let you take you laptop into isolation. All those computer viruses I guess...  Wink

Right ho one week out of hospital and a visit to the transplant consultant this morning, it’s about time for an update.

First off all, many, many thanks for all your kind messages, it means a lot to get them.  Just hope I have enough pocket money in June for a few beers.

Went in for a stem cell transplant, which should have meant 4-6 weeks in an isolation room as the chemo effectively destroys the immune system.  Have been a bit of a star and got away with just 2 ½ weeks.  The first few days were grim and I mean grim, the green diarrhoea had to be the worst bit followed by the morphine-induced nightmares.  The nursing staff were just fantastic and made sure that I was as comfortable as possible.  You have the most bizarre conversations with them and it all sounds perfectly normal.

Have been discharged from the transplant team this morning, which is really good news and now back in the care of the cancer consultant.  No further treatment required, as I’m in complete remission, except for lots of pills over the next year, mainly anti-biotics.  Just hope it doesn’t come back for a long time, what I have is incurable but very treatable.

Couple of photographs from my hutch, check out the first photo and the RH door, good shot of some of us at the poo-bar last year and the second shows what a well dressed visitor needed to don, I had been exposed to the flu by another patient as I had my chemo!  Mainly precautionary, even the medical had to be suited and booted.

Robbo paid a visit the other day and brought the T-Shirts around, so that was a marvellous day, Mark has been in contact and keeping me up-to-date what has been going on in the world and relaying my news.

That’s about all for now Peter

4-6 weeks in there? Ye Gods, it's like a French prison cell. Not that I would know what the inside of one of those looks like.

Anyway I'm glad the treatment was a success Peter and look forward to seeing you soon. We must get that go-kart thing sorted out soon!
