Ice Maker

Has anyone taken one of the domestic style ice makers to Le Mans, and if so, how did it cope in last years heat?

Hi JP,
        As we know they often over state the ability of these sorts of machines I  would guess at more like 10 kg of ice per 24 hours or slightly less than 1lb per hour 179/(5x24)= 1.58 per pound of ice on MB where ICE is a rare as rocking horse sh*t So at 2 Euro per Kilo we could have you in the poor house by the end of the week

Ah, but I picked one up for £76 Phil.    Tested it at the weekend and it does churn out the stated 15 kilos per 24 hours (although you need to empty the made ice and top up the water as necessary or it automatically stops producing when full of ice or runs out of water. Our freezer is full to the brim ready for a bar I'm running in a couple of weeks time. That was the main purpose of getting it anyway, so the cost factor for Le Mans isn't an issue, it's more about functionality. That said, Carrefour were charging about €3 for a 1kg bag last year so in comparison to that it's still a good deal. (7 days at 15kg at €3 =  €315 = £225

My concern was whether it would actually function in the heat (assuming we have another scorcher)

Mark, as with all fridges, keep it in the shade and try to get a continuous airflow past it.
It'll have to work harder in a higher ambient temperature.  You'll be looking at AC next

Phil borrowed one of these last year and it worked fine even in the heat of Sunday, just had to keep it topped up with water.
