in pit record
« on: April 06, 2006, 03:45:27 am »

hi guys,

i have a question and i hope you can help me!?

-Wich Le Mans winner owns the record in spending lowest overall time in the pitlane at the 24 hours?
-How much of this time (in %) was needed for changing tires?  :o

i think it was a Porsche (maybe the GT1 in '98?) but i'm not sure.  ???
hope you can help me and please excuse my bad english!

I'm pretty sure the 2000 winning Audi spent very little total time in the pits.  How long exactly will need a bit more Googling / research.

Shouldn't this thread be called "Out of pit record"?

I'd venture Mazda 727B #55 in the '91 race. It had a totally trouble free run Just tyres, pads, fuel and a dash of oil on the last two stops. Explains the outright win over MercBenz, who were faster but had cooling and transmission woes.
If it\'s good and fast, it won\'t be cheap. If it\'s fast and cheap, it won\'t be good. If it\'s good and cheap, it won\'t be fast.

The 1981 winning Porsche 936/81 of Ickx & Bell might be another candidate, the car ran trouble free for the 24 hours, just routine stops for fuel, tires, oil & pads.

thanks for the great suggestions!  :-*

I found out that the winning R8 drivers in 2002 only spend a total time of 20 minutes in the pitlane. Could that be true? Sounds very short to me!
I already googled my a** off but it was the only overall time i found.  :'(
Does anyone exactly know how many pit stops they did?

Correct - 767 - Thanks Brushy - it's been a long day. Couldn't help noticing you are from York. I lived in a little village called Green Hammerton back in mid 70's and made Smarties on the night shift at Rowntrees for a couple of years. Lots of miles on the clock since then! Beautiful city - great pubs - fond memories. Sorry to go all nostalgic and off topic, deerhunter....
