The Club Arnage editorial team were chatting over a few beers recently and forming our strategy for the 2006 vingt quatre heures. One of the things that came up was a way to involve CA forum peeps in what we do for the ACO.
You probably know that CA provides the English editorial for the ACO's own site '
www.lemans.org' and has done for the last four years. We are annually imprisoned in the press room for the duration of the race without access to the normal comforts of the regular race fan. We have a TV feed, a timing screen and a window to peer out of but depite all that, it's often hard to work out what happened when a car just fails to come around and doesn't appear on any of our screens.
This is where you guys come in. If an incident happens right in front of you, you almost certainly have a much better idea then we do of what transpired. All we need to do is give you a method of telling us.
What is proposed is a text-to-email gateway were you can text us your observations to a mobile number and we get that on our screens like a news ticker. You can text us anything interesting or worth a comment or two. We can also get pics from your phone if you like. We might even set up two feeds, one for serious on-track incidents and one for jolly chit chat.
If you think its a worthwhile idea we can make it happen.
