Hi Gilles and welcome back!

...Anyway, if you're in London I'll buy you a beer - we could meet Rick in the Mitre, ...

I may have new job! (in of all places Wokingham!) I have season ticket for London until the end of February but after that it is a costly exercise to come to London.

Hi Giles, good to hear from you, you might try the Travellodge at the old GLC building in battersea, its a little way out but quite cheap.

As Giles was kind enough to sell me tickets at short notice a few years back, I am pleased to return the favour.

Yes the TravelInn would be a good base. The one mentioned is 'London County Hall'. Its right next to the London Eye & opposite Big Ben & Housed of Parlement. Also very close to Waterloo tube (train & Eurostar) station. There are lots of Travel Inns around london so check out the web site www.premiertravelinn.com

Another chain worth trying is Travel Lodge. www.travelodge.co.uk

If you don't want a chain hotel, or are after something right in the middle of town, try one of the many hotel search sites. I use Hotel Direct~: www.hoteldirect.co.uk

One word of caution, the cost of the room is no gaurentee of it's quality. I always check out the hotel at www.tripadvisor.com before booking. Type the hotel name & city & follow the links to customer reviews.

Hope this helps & have a good trip.
