TomTom? Here in Holland we've got HankHank :-

But why putting addresses in that thing which you already know? The Super U at Arnage is well known, isn't it? And otherwise you can always follow the crowd ;)
Eh, give me a break Paddy, never been to the super U. Plus I'm always gone and  I run a TomTom system so I thought it might be helpful. And the tomTom I got came from Hollond. And I'm wass'ed now so  see you next week. And we''ll talk about complaining about the loud music over a pint or 2 .

TomTom went a little weird on the new motorway - it occassionally seemed to think I was driving in fields about 50m to the side of the road. Also there are a lot of tram works and deviations in le Mans which it obviously didn't know about, but overall it paid it's way.

btw The new motorway was virtually empty on Friday morning and Sunday afternoon. Car was about €15 for the duration.

My TomTom did the same on the new motorway, boy doesn't it cut the travel time down. We managed to get down there in about 3hrs 45 at a cruise controlled 80mph. I am sure some of the others will get there a lot quicker !!!! ;) ;) it looked like there were plenty of places for the police to set up there mobile traps though :(

Where does the new motorway start?  Is it after the concrete cows after Rouen?
Thanks

Somewhere thereabouts, yeah. You drive along an industrial bit alongside a large railway goods yard for a few miles after the tunnel.

Nah, the cows are en route.

Not sure I'd ever noticed them before!

Jon, if you have a look on the Michelin site it shows where the new bit of the A28 joins onto the A13 near a town called Bourg-Achard  http://tinyurl.com/gd2b4, its quite a few klicks outside of Rouen.

No offense  to C. A. intended .... The information and maps are excellent !!!!

I was referring mainly to it's use, for maps of Europe, seaching member locations, etc.

Excuse my ignorance Stu, I thought you were talking about this sort of Tom Tom.
I just head south and west from Boulogne-sur-Mer and hope for the best.

Thanks for your replies.
I was thinking of stopping off a the Champion supermarket en route to stock up with beer to save the nightmare of Carrefour on the Friday.
Beer purchase is very important.

New motorway is really easy to find/stumble over. As already said follow your normal route to Rouen, past the cows, on to the A13 then stay on it for about 10 miles you will pass a big service area about 1.5 miles before the turning. Even i managed to find it without getting lost, probabley because i had FS guide to getting there, the Michelin map and sat nav plus KPY directions that have always been spot on (he got me a route to Le Mans last year that avoided the N138) All in all a very quick drive now. I am looking forward to seeing the various cars flying past me on the way down Thursday. Only bad point (other than my spelling) is that there are quite a few places for the mobile speed cameras to be set up.
