Have been listening to the live streaming today and by the sounds of it .....the new pit lane is causing concern for the drivers regarding the exit onto the track being on the corner at the new Dunlop Chicane.

Deffo egg on face for the ACO and FIA approving the exit and now the drivers have signed a petition formalising their concerns on the non safety aspect of where the pit lane joins the citcuit.

Well how stupid can the organising bodies be....not realising what they have done.

It does look like it is the job of the cars on track to miss the cars exiting the pit lane!

Another "Bike" orientated decision!

I always thought (historically) it was the Car LM 24 hour which created this fantastic spectacle!

"But what have the FIA ever done for us?"

The pit lane is now 1.2km long Shocked
Over a race if a car stops every 40mins then they stop 35 times. The track is 13.65km long.
The car will effectivly do 2.5 laps in the pits during the race.
I really must get out more.

I did hear that Henri was going to block it with his cars, but don't know what happened?

Yes but it's the same length for every one.    Smiley

Only if they stop the same amount.  If they stop less, in effect there will be an overall speed differential in favour of the cars that run longer between stops.  Surely Cool

Well yes,  But it's really  quite complex to get a really answer as to how much advantage you gain from stopping less.

First the disadvantage only really only applies to the additional length.

Then the diffence is only the differental in the maximum speed your car can do over the limit placed on car in the pit lane.

So faster cars pay a bigger penalty.  Assuning all car can do the Pit Lane Max.

It does seem silly to inpose a limit once the car is past the pit area were people are.

At one time there was, I guess there still is, a limit to the Flow in to the Tank when refueling.  It would take two minutes to refuel. If the car stops 30 times to refuel if would spend an hour not moving.

IMHO it's not going to make that much difference to the result.

i have to say after seeing it for the first time we all looked at each other with mouths wide open, i think the people in the Dunlop Grandstand will see a lot of action this year and not the good type.

I am not sure of the effect on the cars for being on the pit limiter for so long, i did see a couple of cars come off it early much to the annoyance of the marshalls.
