i have a new tent
« on: June 12, 2006, 12:11:59 pm »
This year i have invested in a new tent. Rather than the usual 1 and a half hour fight to get up the old ridge tent i have bought a new tent from a camping shop in Australia. I figured that if it is built for Oz summers it will take Le Mans heat in its stride. It was delievred in under a week and as it was in a sale express delivery around teh world included it cost £60. It is sun reflective has numerous windows, fly nets and vents which are optimistacally called climate control, so hopefully my down under purchase will be the best around!! Roll on the heat!!

Dave,
How did the tent perform in the heat?
As usual, I emerged from mine every morning roundabout nine-ish with my bollocks steaming and my head on fire. Not ideal conditions to greet the day I grant you.
Worth a punt?

far better than my old tent, i had the multiple flaps doors windows open with the fly nets in place and a cooling breeze was aiding my old ball sack sweat issue of years gone by.

Saying that though, i don't think it was as hot this year as many, especially last year.

But overall yes well worth the punt, especially as it was cheap. I reckon if you paid more you could do very well. Am thinking of getting an optional outback sun awning for aided shelter above the tent next year, and maybe a butler to fan me with a big leaf.

Dave

Can't fault your thinking.

I'm shopping for a new tent ready for next year - the local Sports Hypermarket (Dec***lon) has a sale on and had a visit this weekend but did not buy just yet while exploring the options.

My criteria is slightly different - I want to be able to stand up as I'm fed up with lying on my back, and waving my legs in the air while trying to change my trollies....!
And you know what they call a... a... a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris?
