No. 69 Scuderia Italia DB9
« on: June 20, 2006, 10:34:54 am »
Did anyone get a photo of this car on the grid for team introductions? My daughter (daughter of Lancs Se7en) was the young lady holding the italian Flag from around 13.00 onwards alongside the car and I couldnt get to the front of the heaving mass of bodies in the opposite viewing area to get a piccie.
Does it really only have full throttle

You sure??????
I wonder if the team has calculated how much money each one of the three laps cost
Pessimist - Glass half empty
Optimist - Glass half full
Engineer - Glass twice as big as needed

Did she enjoy the party and has she taken up the offer of Spa?

Hi Tony,
She went to the Italian party (wake) on the Saturday night but they were really upbeat considering what happened early doors. The young lady was invited to the Aston party on Sunday but came with us for pizza instead.

We had a look around the car on Sunday and met the guy who designed the car for Prodrive. The Italian job is badly bent chassis wise and may need a new engine but thats racing.
What capped the weekend was being in the Chamberlain pit when the LMP1 went out for a finish and we then went onto the pit wall for the last few laps. They had a gearbox problem and were loosing oil through a hole that had been made by some errant bits however they got it patched up and got a finish but it was touch and go. I have to say that we had a fantastic time considering that these things just happened and that we were looked after superbly by the Italians and the guys at Chamberlain.

We are going to try and get to Spa but have declined the invitation for Rachael to go to Dubai :P

By the way did you get the monkey bike back??

Oops! I have to confess to having taken many photos of Rachael!

I was taking photos on behalf of Pilbeam Racing (so was in the next pit) and during the pit walk and grid walk sessions just had to take photos each time I went by! It didn't help that the car was next to us on the grid as well!

I only got home very late last night so will start downloading my 2000+ photos (that's in total for the week, not of Rachael!) this evening. If you could PM me your e-mail address I will put a page up of photos so you can download at your leisure!

Cheers

Rick

LOL!! Glad it wasn't just me then! After I'd been on the pitwalk I joined the rest of my possee who were with the TW*TS who happened to be positioned opposite the Pilbeam and BMS Aston on the grid. All I can say is Rachael seems to have many admirers!

I've sorted through the pics now and will get the page up tomorrow evening (not home tonight!).

Cheers

Rick
