Hamburg
« on: June 27, 2006, 03:01:51 pm »
I've a very old friend who lives in Hamburg with her German husband. I've foolishly promised to go watch the footy with them in Hamburg if England get to the World Cup final. Unlikely as it is, this is quite inconvenient as I'll probably be at the Classic that weekend. Does anyone know how long to drive from Le Mans to Hamburg? Best route? Also does anyone know what the beefburgers are like?
I wouldn't sit there if I were you, it's still a bit wet.

Damn you're happy England isn't going to make it to the final. ;D

This film should be played at high volume, so don't come complaining about it! And who the hell is Steve?

Just in case England makes it to the final and you really need to go to Hamburg:

Quickest (but not cheapest) is Le Mans-Paris by TGV and an Air France flight (they have non-stop-flights) from Paris to Hamburg

hoping that the car would break down. I came away in love with the place." - Eddie Irvine

That's quite a tour, 1100 Kilometers in total.
From Hamburg just follow the motorway A1 southwards via Bremen, Münster, Dortmund (Ruhrgebiet), Wuppertal to Köln (Cologne). Then change onto the A4 westwards to Aachen (wave as you pass). Just before Aachen you have to change onto the A44 into the direction of Belgium (next city is Lüttich (or Liege in French)). Then when you passed Lüttich you have to change onto the A15/E42 (the Lüttich airport is on your right). Then comes Namur, Mons and Valenciennes (border to France). In France you will be on the N30 which becomes the A1 (toll motorway). Your main destination is Paris now, rough direction Nantes/Orleans. Take care that you manage to take the exit to the A10/A11 to Chartres, follow the A11 to Nantes. At LM take the LM south exit. Have a good drive, it's quite a bit of miles.
I don't care - I'm a racing driver and I'm here to win, not to finish third.

In that case you should be proud to have lost against the 2006 World Champion in the final ;D

Why not invite them to the Classic instead. They can watch a great race and you still watch the match together.
