Doctors have said Steve Irwin died because he did not have sun screen on. That would have protected him from harmful rays.... :o ::) ;D

You are right there, but I aint that surprised that he got taken out by something...

He was a very brave (stupid?) man and true environmentalist, but a lot of his antics did look more like provocation of animals than anything else.

Bad luck or did he get what was coming..?

You decide.

Add that to the list of reasons I'm going to hell.
I stole DelBoy's lighter and lived to tell the tale.

Apparently his favourite childhood program was Thunderbirds but he always had a place in his heart for Stingray.

Gotta admit being taken out by a Stingray was not how I thought he'd check out.  They're a fairly gentle creature and he must have really pissed one off.  In the Bahamas people feed the Stingrays crab meat right from their bare hands.   Did some nice things for wildlife education and preservation but yes, some of his stunts were rather over the top.  The footage of him holding his kid in his arms while feeding a big Croc seemed in poor taste and excessively stupid.

Jimmy Nail is to play 'Crocodile Shoes' at Steve Irwin's funeral.  Sting was first choice but was considered inappropriate.   ;D

Am I alone in thinking that had it been a racing driver who had met his death in an accident whilst driving, say, a Stingray then we would not be making such fun of it?
I wouldn't sit there if I were you, it's still a bit wet.

Possibly, possibly not.  There may even be some who, although they thought said racing driver an odious tosser whilst he was alive, start lauding his greatness.

You're right of course Doris, but I'm feeling a bit po-faced today for some reason. :(
