Different campsite

We cant get to Le Mans until the Thursday lunchtime every year due to work commitments and we arrive on Maison Blanche to find swathes of French pasture roped and taped off by one or three acreage-hungry groups.
So, for the first time Tres Hombres are considering an alternative domicile for next years race and having been on MB for the last 12 years we need the advice of fellow Club Arnagers who normally camp (ooh missus), or have camped elsewhere.

Where should we go? (sensible answers only - watch them Smokie!!!!!!!)

The campsite always vary for what you may be after.

I think the closest match to Maison Blanche is probably Houx Annexe as it is still fun but no tarmac and a lot more dust.

Bear in mind that Houx Annexe is most likely to become a car park in the next few years so do not get too settled.

Houx Annexe is I reckon the closest likeness to MB
Houx is very expensive for what you get better off on Houx Annexe
Blue is apparently good but concerns me that it is outside the fence
BJ is huge but looks fun-main down point is the location to the hub of the circuit
Karting Nord full of Danes very few English now I believe and not good to turn up late
Technoparc can't comment but seems to be lots of grass for a change

Small internal sites I think are nice but not secure if you are used to MB.

No problems of lack of space on BSJ, just pick a field! We take bikes so distance is no problem.

Now there is a challenge!!! Last year they were harder to get hold of then MB tickets!

HA is the place to be, known as 'Gods own country' it is popular, but, dare I say it there are good and bad areas. I think in the general area where steve and I stay, 100 yards apart, it is fairly civilised but I think there are areas closer to the roundabout which are not so. I will stand corrected.

By the way the people who cordon off large areas of MB could very well be CA members

With the zoning going on in MB it will improve a bit, at least that is what the ACO is hoping for. I just expect it to be a big mess! But you could ofcourse ask people here to keep some space for you. Last year we saved space for SPS and the Brethren I believe.

Try Bleu Sud, we've been on there for the last 3 years. We have had no problems finding a good sized pitch on the overflow, arriving on Thursday afternoon, friday is a different matter.
 Security wise we have had no probs apart from the sunday evening pikey invasion, but the benefit of Blue is that you can be down the back roads and away straight after the champers. We have never had a traffic jam yet! Getting in and out during the race is a doddle too. Its a longer walk back to the tribunes etc. but a walk through the white carpark is no hardship, loads of tasty motors to keep you happy
 The site has a good atmosphere, not too roudy, just right and getting a bit of kip is just about possible without earplugs!. The Lotus seven club takes up a lot of space but puts a band on on the Sat night and youre in a good spot for Fridays drag racing too. 

Only drawbacks are that the overflow site (the field above it along the lane) has no bogs, electric or water, but we take our own, its just a matter of being prepared!!

True, karting nord is full of 'organised' Danes, but you can camp close to the track if you have a small tent and vehicle and can then get amongst the trees and camper homes.

We normally turn up Wednesday late morning and space is minimal then. Thursday you should be able to find something, but most of the shady spots will be gone.

Good for walking into the track from karting nord also, or if you are lazy just walk over ot the fence and watch.

We stay at Musee also and it looks like it will be our last in 2007. It's dusty and very noisy with no facilities - as Tony T says you'll be better off elsewhere.
