The 5th RS Spyder?
« on: February 28, 2007, 11:44:04 am »
Chances are there will be a 5th Porsche RS Spyder running in ALMS this year.  This had been spoken about but there are a few more details now.

What a horrible website.

Anyway, people seem to think they'll debut at the Utah race, not being ready for Sebring (the car's still being built), and not wanting to debut on a car-smashing street course.

They seem to have the driver selection part sorted.  We'll see about the rest.  Honestly, I'd rather see 2 Astons or a couple of antique Saleens than 10 more Spyders
I stole DelBoy's lighter and lived to tell the tale.

With you all the way, chop - especially the Saleen part!  There was talk late last year of Mr S wanting Oreca to run one at Sebring but it just never happened.  Pity.  GT1 looks seriously lame to me.  A 'vette shoe-in.  Humph - not that I don't love them 'Vettes but it'll be a hollow victory.  Pointless.

Have I missed something.......but when did the World Championship start?

"Conzus Motorsports has combined forces with Porsche Motorsports to create a sports car racing team to challenge for the World Championship in the American Le Mans Series and the pinnacle of sports car racing, the 24 Hours of Le Mans."

Le Mans is for the week......not just 24hrs!

Conzus ....... as in 'cons us'  ::)
That was my first thought, too.  ;D

mariantic.co.uk has the scoop:

Quote
"Conzus" is an accronym for COlumbia, New Zealand & US. The team flies crossed Columbian & NZ flags for Gordon Friend's Columbian interests & NZ nationality...

Columbian interests eh  ::)

They only require one driver then; at every pitstop fill up the car with petrol, and the driver with white horse ;D

Obvoius why they're not running at Le Mans.
They'd end up following the white lines rather than the circuit.
I think they could have come up with a better name than Conzus.
If I was you, I wouldn't start from here
