If it worries you, click the minus sign just after the date/time (top right) and it hides this info.

I've been on this layout for some time now - you soon get used to it - and it all works, including the 'new' button.

Edit:  Pity really - before, I was one of 11, now I'm one of 2159.  Still, something to be said for anonymity.

Well I clicked the "-" thing and its almost back to normal, and the avatars have returned.  I'll check mines there now
