wasnt it also known as the poor mans' jensen interceptor ???

Better than a poor man's Jenson Button. How bad would that be?

it has different cams and is decatted so it dinoed at around 230bhp, but that makes a big difference from the standard 150. Pluss it runs cooler and is better on fuel.

Sounds good, NorwayNick! 8)

Mine had a Cologne, not an Essex at it was an early eighties ('82 I believe). I alway understood cracking up the power to 200 bhp was easy and affordable with these blocks. Anything over 200 would cost you deerly :-\

I believe Bobblehat has a Scimmy as well.

Indeed I do a SE6 (70th  or 71st built) it has the Essex V6, which I am informed can be pushed to 300bhp :o Mine is near to the 160 mark. Unfortunatly it is quitly falling apart on the drive so if anybody whants some spares drop us a line! Paddy yours sounds like a Middlebridge version, the Scimmy's last stand!

ok so cant drive the Scimmy down this year as i have just found out the power steering has packed up, and it costs about the same as a new Aston Martin to get a new one :(  (I might be exagerating)

Might be in with a shout on this one now Nick ain't driving (sorry to hear about your steering probs). Last years total return Mileage inc a few detours was 1358 miles. But I know that Newcastle Dave lives 5 miles further north from me so has further to go. Scimmies must be rare over Norway, our local rag is usually full of the things. A geordie favourite methinks.

same trip this year, but i might be taking my Scimitar this time. if im feeling brave.

Hi NorwayNick,

I used to Sprint & Hill Climb a '72 SE5a with RS3100 in the late 80's and had quite a few sucesses much to the chagrin of many. (You'll see why at LM).

Philosphy was ' Helmet on - Brain disengaged'!

After that is was a 3.4 GA Cossy in XR4i developed by Ford. Again much to the chagrin of many.

Hope to see you at LM

hmmm 3.4 GAA would like one of them, in my 4i. Helped run a RX7 with that engine in the Thunder Saloons.

yep there are only 2 scimitar registered in Norway, so finding spares is a problem, ok with the engine but a steering rack is going to be hard to find over here :'(

Holy Sh*t Jerry!
You got involved in motorsport events with one these!!??
Cor blimey, I'll bet that was a sight worth seeing, mind you I suppose it was a while ago now, and rules were made to be broken then.
Many the time I found myself down at Brands, the air thick with Zeppelins, and searchlights cutting the sky by Graham Hill Bends. A quick rat-a-tat-tat on the Browning usually signalled a pitstop, or the outbreak of hostilities, it was up to the stewards to decide.
I could eat two pints of whelks then.

Hi BigH,

Welks!, I get my fresh Cockles at the local pub, sprinkling of malt vinegar and a smudge of black pepper.

At Brands and Lyden they still had the AA's there, but that was to control the local Canada Geese.

Best Sprint Circuits:- Goodwood & Brands,
Best Hill Climbs:- Prescott, Harewood, Gurston & Shelsey Walsh.

I used to wear brown smelly undies before the green light!!

Edit:  That only has 2 wheels, was Delboy Trotter involved in its design?
