We have some time on the Monday after this years race and were thinking about driving the original grand prix circuit from 1906. Does anybody have a map of the route? I have tried on google but with no joy.

You might find this useful too
http://www.lemans1906.com/pages/livre_centenaire.html
somewhere on there last year were all the route details for the drivers - I'll try to find them.  Some of the circuit (in the forest) is on private land though.

Nearly 65 miles? Now THAT'S a proper circuit!  Shocked

A run around it seems like a great idea...

Nothing is set in stone.  However, it's a romantic idea but may not be the best route on Friday as it could be busy.  Part of it is on forestry roads (closed to the public) but that's possible to get round.  Also, a few people wanted to do St Sat which is available on Friday and Saturday morning only.
I'd have to work out a place for us to stop in the middle which may not be so easy as the place I had planned has loads of parking.  Also, Herard would be very disappointed if we didn't come now!
Oh, and of course there's the small matter of the time I've already spent planning the route!
However, I  will of course bow to the majority.

My "marvellous idea" response was not meant to divert us away from the considerable personal effort that Termie has put into organising/co-ordinating the current plan - just an admiration of the idea, 'cos it had never occurred to me before.  Let's stick with Termie's current plan for the Friday (and Friday would be a bad day to try doing a 65-mile circuit).  We can plan a mass attempt on the circuit next year.

Thanks guys, I never thought badly of either of you for one moment!  The circuit idea really does sound fun, but not for the Friday.  Maybe our o/p would like to act as guineau pig for '08?
