Noise Petition - Please read and sign the petition
« on: August 13, 2008, 11:00:03 pm »
Due to the ever increasing risk of motorsport events coming under scruteny due to complaints regarding noise, a petition has been put together asking government to put something in place that safe guards long standing events from complaints from new residents that arrived after the event was all ready there.

To try and safe guard the sport that we love from such complaints, please sign the petition below and get as many people to sign it as possible.

Thanks
Chris

Also done, and forwarded info to others.

My fave local circuit Castle Combe has suffered a number of attempts to curtail noise in this way, and I believe Pembrey have also had problems recently due to this type of action. What always puzzled me was why people would move into an area where periodic noise events were inevitable, and well known.

Croft in North Yorkshire has sufferede this fate a few years ago when the local Magistrate bought a house on the circuit perimeter and then kicked up a fuss. Yanker.

Even Goodwood has had the same treatment......allabeight around 25 years ago and I believe it still stands to this day.
At the time I think Lord March upset a number of neighbours when he allowed some formula 1 teams to test their cars there.

Done!!!!

Noise Notice was served on Goodwood in 1985, but was unenforecable due to it being badly drafted- I know I had to try and enforce it!. Notice was resrved about 10 years back when the Circuit re-opend for the revival meeting.

I now work the other side of the fence for the circuit owners when required.

Aha

looks like Gordy baby is striking back

I did sign up this arfter, as promised but the expected email didn't land in my inbox

I then tried my back up emails on MSN which did work, but two attempts with my usual one died in the air.

Could be worth watching, are No10 starting to fight back here?

Done, always annoys me when people complain about something that was there before they moved. Farm noises and smells in the countryside etc.

I once answered the phone to a noise complaint.

They complained about aircraft and helicopter noise (It's an airport - Duh!)
I asked them how long they had lived by the airport.
3 years they told me
I then said that the airport was here first, and they should have thought a bit harder about where they wanted to buy a house, and hung the phone up.

My watch manager then took me to one side, and told that I was under no circimstances to respond to a noise complaint in that manner again.

Now I only do it when he's out of earshot

Petition signed.

From kpys link

"The court also heard that Mr Sytner's wife Elizabeth was similarly enraged by country ways near their home.

"I was in my garden and heard cows making a noise in the field," she said."

says it all.
