Of course, if her legs don't work, she won't be able to get up the stairs anyway....

I doubt that'll stop her  ;D   There is a lift in the main pit stand, it's often blocked off but there must be ways...

We have a date for Deb to move to a rehabilitation centre – Tuesday! The centre, of which I have no details as yet, is at Le Grand Luce, SE of Le Mans. I estimate the journey time from here as an hour, with no autoroute mileage – much easier going!

We spent some time in the café today – by wheelchair, of course - and then went out front onto the ambulance drop-off zone. It was really hot! Deb had a blanket over her, and regretted it. Some September we’re having here.

Great News Mr Termie.

Please give Deb our best wishes.    It sounds like good progress even if it's a bit slow.

As of today – is that English? – Deb has been moved 150 miles from Rouen to Le Grand Luce, SE of Le Mans. She is in a rehabilitation unit, where more vigorous physio can be undertaken. I am deeply relieved, having driven over 6000 miles in more than 20 trips to Rouen since her accident, 5 weeks ago today. The new facility is only 34 miles away, instead of 120. I may become less tired! She is now sharing a room, with an elderly French lady. I left them watching the French version of Countdown! A deeply dishy doctor had been in and given Deb a quick exam, as well as looking at the handover notes from Rouen. She was clearly impressed with the extensive list of fractures! The orthopaedic surgeon visits on Thursday, and he will assess Deb and then prescribe a regime for the physiotherapists to follow.

Once again, one finds the hospital to be modern and well-staffed. Even the admin people turn out to be charming and helpful – my limited French seems to be nearly adequate on these occasions, and we can share some humour. It all looks terribly promising.

Please to see its all good news.

6000 miles, thats only 2 Le Mans

Personally, I'd recommend watching "Are you smarter that a nine year old" in French, as there's a chance slobs like me could understand it, especially the questions on English.

I'm being a bit cagey here about termie's details. This is a public forum, and while the real CAers are a cracking bunch of whom she is very fond, others may lurk, with funny ideas in mind about a woman in hospital.

Accordingly, I've decided to advise Smokie of Deb's address details, on the basis that he will sort the wheat (almost all of you) from the chaff (unknown quantity) on my behalf. It also accords with Steve Pyro's remark to Smokie - who happened on this thread a little later than he would have liked - of being a slacker! Sorry Smokie! Can I promise you another barbecue here in 2009 to make up?

I'm sorry if this seems over-protective, but having got Deb back from a near-death experience, I'm not keen for anything unpleasant to happen in the aftermath! I do have 35 years of emotion invested in this lady!

Sounds good Mr. Termite!

This film should be played at high volume, so don't come complaining about it! And who the hell is Steve?

Really pleasing to hear the news - enjoy the shorter trip, although of course Deb will probably now expect you to stay for longer when visiting....mind you if the doctor is dishy it may be a small price to pay....

I know Deb could hardly be described as mobile yet, but how is the repair process coming along, and are there any thoughts yet on how much longer she'll have to remain in for?
