Folks...
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 2000 vecky V6 that shows the stereo wiring?
The last owner of Pig Pen Racing's new flagship vehicle has left me with a bundle of multi coloured wires that will take hours to sort through.
Live, earth, mute, phone etc are all normal colours but the speaker wires are baffling.
Can anyone shed any light for me please?

PP

PS Music will stop me enjoying the exhaust noise and save my liscence!

I could'nt be any further from experienced at this but would checking what colours the wires are at all the speakers and tracing them back to the head unit shed any light on the problem???

It would, but I really dont want to have to take all the door cards off... being a Vauxhall I'm sure that things will break and it will be a pig to get back together.

Not quite right Rex.

Being a vauxhall, the door cards will just fall off by themselves. Take it up and down the track a few times.

Isn't there a nice pluggy thing for the back of the stereo, so if you're putting an aftermarket HU in, you can often get a nice all in one connector http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Car_Stereo_fitting_kits/vauxhall/vectra.htm (Just a suggestion) that patches straight into the loom, or does it look like the previous HU was erm, forcibly removed by someone other than the rightful owner.

The days of chocolate block behind dashoards are largely brhind us I fear.

If the iso cable (pluggy thingy)  Grin is missing nip down the scrappy and whip one out of another veccy and just join the cables with small choc blocks or black tape. I did this wit an old clio for a quick fix.

If you have an old spare speaker experiment with that, if it all goes pete tong then you will know which way round not to do it!

(I should point out I have no knowledge on car wiring whatsoever!)

try here for a better reply.

Strangely, normal Vauxhall owners use the web.

My first search found exactly the same question on a forum, with the helpfull answer "I have the same problem"

However this looks a little more promising http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2514
but you'll have to find the "How to " section.  It suggests that they're all on the standard plug, which has standard colours for the wires

As far as i know any crossovers should be in beside the speakers and as long as the cables have only been chopped at the iso plug everything should be fine once a plug is fitted. As kev said though,if its an aftermarket head unit your going for you will need an iso adaptor from autoleads or the like to convert the standard veccy plug to fit a new head unit  Wink
