no works aston's at le sarthe
« on: January 10, 2009, 07:19:10 pm »
:o Mr brabham says no works Aston GT1's at LM this year.......

Aston Martin driver David Brabham does not expect the 2008 GT1-winning team to participate in the Le Mans 24 Hours this year - but confirmed that an LMP1 project is on Aston's agenda.
"From what I understand, Aston Martin aren't going back to Le Mans as a factory team with the GT1," he said at the Autosport International Show today.

"They might do in LMP1 but I think they're still trying to get that organised.

"I've been fortunate to have Aston Martin Racing ask me for several years to be involved in their programme. They haven't rung me this year because there's probably no programme."

Maybe they aren't? or maybe they are ,but without brabs ;D ;D ;D

Reading between the lines on DSC i reckon we will see a privateer team (Jet Alliance??, Gigawave?) run effectively works DBR9's, and hopefully a LMP1 entry, along with at least 1 GT2 Vantage.  So I doubt we will see the final decider between P&M and AMR, sadly

Last Friday the plans for the Subaru WRC team members were being announced to them I understand....
Of course I buy green cars, my Aston is green, my MGB is green, my Disco Sport is green,  oh, that's not what you meant by green?

Very good news!!

I expect the GT1 cars will also be there, but run as private cars.

Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better.

Aston Martin will be represented in the 24 Hours of Le Mans by a pair of Gulf-liveried LMP1 coupes built by Lola. Aston Martin Racing, which is run by the Prodrive organization, has put together a deal to mount a strong Le Mans challenge on the 50th anniversary of its only overall win in the French endurance classic

Oh good its public knowledge at last ;D ;D

Naughty Fran and Martin....LB got me drunk at the Classic and made me tell all. Supprised that after 2 years of planning the news hadn't got out before now!

What are you suggesting young man?

I never get drunk unless forced to by good company. Anyway it's the second part that bothered me, I'd managed to keep the Aston thing a secret for weeks. You'll have no idea what trouble I'll be in now- they are watching you know!

How have you all been keeping?

I heard the news yesterday from Posh Zarse while attending an impromptu meeting at the new Zarse palace. Steve cracked his sump on the way to mine and oiled my drive heavily( all of it) so I had to take him to Horsham so he could go skiiing today...
Cheers for the accomodation and crying laughter Andy! ;D ;D
