Got this sent to me today,

LD route - Dover - Bols (Boulogne) - they have started earlier (where due July)

http://www.ldlines.co.uk/dover-boulogne-fare.html

seems cheap at first sight - have not checked Le Mans week.

Might save money, so more to spend on beer

One of the other cars in my group just checked - they're already re-booked (apres Speedferries) on P&O for £91.  Almost identical sailing times on LD worked out at £40, and of course you arrive 30 miles closer to LM.

OK...this is an introductory special offer, but good value.

I can't find the timetable, but its a wierd schedule - at best there are only 3 boats a day, 9, 11 and 4pm, or 9:45 and 3:15 when I want to go

Sunday to Monday is £48 or only £128 with caravan

I think the weird schedule is due to them also running the Newhaven - Dieppe route. We are going out on this one and it arrives at 03:30!  Can't get the route back as the times don't match well unless we were to leave on Sunday.

We did LD Lines last year and the boat and cabins were very good , as was the price. The only thing was that its mainly a trucking route and therefore the boat left at 12.30am and go in at about 4.30am, so little bar or cabin kip time, nice easy route down though.

Its £298 for three of us from pompey to LH in the car, leaving Fri 5th and coming back on tues after LM. Somewhat of a difference from prices quoted below Evil Guess they have got wise to a premium cash drawing week!!  Sad

Just been quoted £61 from Dover to Boulogne return... thats a bit of a difference to the average 0f near £300 for all the other crossings.
Can anyone tell me what the drive from BL is like... we are leaving on the 5th so have plenty of time to get to our planned 2 nite stop in La Fleche before monday madness begins.
Cheers

Boulogne is easy - you're on the same road but 20 minutes closer.

Dead easy - did it a couple of times via Speedferries when they were operating - on the French side, it's about 220 miles, Rouen is the only real source of any traffic delays, otherwise its autoroute all the way, and I seem to remember the tolls totalled about 18 euros last year.  Good campsites to stop over at on the coast to the south of Boulogne on the way back if you can't manage the whole return journey in one go.

Monday morning you can do it in well under 4 hours, without breaking the speed limit.
As long as you miss the rush hour go straight through Rouen, it's quickest.
Toll is about €15 for the LM/Rouen leg.

Absolutely. La Flèche to Boulogne is 445 kms. Current tolls are €27.90.
