It would seem Ferrari are throwing their toys out of the pram again ...

Love this quote

However, Ferrari's president Luca di Montezemolo, head of the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA), has warned it would create a two-tier championship that could be "fundamentally unfair and perhaps even biased".

As if that would ever happen in F1  ;D

As Luca di Montezemolo is starting the 24hr race maybe it could mean a switch to LMS, ALMS or the new Asian LMS if they do throw the teddy out of the pram ???

So if Ferrari did spit their dummy out and chucked all their toys out of the pram !

And they did do Le Mans, would that be good or bad?

Not only Ferrari, but Toyota as well.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8042267.stm

A couple of quotes:
"Howett said Toyota, who also provide Williams with engines, would like to remain in Formula 1 but had alternatives."
"And there are other categories that we could consider where we may be able to operate in a completely different manner."

Ade
Le Mans - the how you get there is not quite as important as being there.

I'd like to see them back at Le Mans, but not with an F1 budget, like Audi.

Toyota and Red Bull have threatened to walk too.  I think the FI teams have to register for 2010 by May 27, so this should get entertaining over the next couple of weeks.

Lets all send them some toys, so they've got plenty to throw, and some might hit Max

They won't being doing that whilst the rules are tilted towards those horrid oilburners. I'd love to see a red screamer win though.

If the teams have any spare I'd love to throw a bag of spanners at Bernie with a ten ton weight attached  :)

Personally I think Ferrari at Le Mans would be a bad thing. being even more popular & prices go through the roof ala F1 & they can't take that away from us can they :o

A little snippet taken off the autosport web site

"In light of the developments regarding next year's entry, Ferrari said its president Luca di Montezemolo had been told to look at alternative activities for the racing team"

I think he will gobsmacked as he drops the flag for the start of the race.

If Ferrari so much as hint at an LMP car instead of F1 next year, then I bet the rules will be changed to screw it up, the tracks that run LMS races will have chicanes added willy nilly and have other series suddenly moved to other venue, TV companies that broadcast them will suddenly have to pay a whole lot more, not just for LMS, but anything else they show that the FIA control.

While I would love the idea of an LMP ferrari (and Toyota and BMW etc), I fear the price would be very high if it comes at the expense of F1.

I will eat my house brick by brick if we don't see a ferrari on the F1 grid next year.

btw, I do expect a toyota and BMW to produce a LMP within the next 4 years, but the rulemakers need to get there act together so that one car is competitive both in Europe, Asia and the US.
Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better.

Neil, never in a month of sundays will Ferrari do that!

I personally cannot understand the ACO's fixation with burning filthy oil, particulate capture or not, technologically it is not the way ahead or the fuel of the future. Maybe a switch to KERS would make for better racing? Anything but compression ignition, it's a blind alley.
