New ACO members enclosure
« on: June 01, 2009, 07:55:23 pm »
The ACO have opened a new members enclosure down near the Dunlop footbridge.
I don't know for certain if this one replaces the one by the Poo bar, but I think it does.
According to the site that's where you collect your programme, entry list etc.
Cost to members guests is €15.
I think it was only €5 last year for the guest bands. :(

Had a mailing from the ACO about this today and it is not sepcific as to whether it replaces the one at the back of the village, it just states 'new'.  Good location though on the inside of 'Chapel Corner' according to the ACO. In all the years we've been going I never knew that was the name of that particular corner (where the track turns sharp right to go back on to the Bugatti Circuit after Dunlop) Good spot though to be able to see the run down from Dunlop, through the Esses and on to Tertre Rouge.

The pricing of the guest bands is very steep though. You're right Barry, I think they 5 or 6 Euros last year.

This is what's left of the old Musee/members enclosure

The new enclosure is a temporary one:

Looks OK, trackside viewing, a giant screen, live timing, 2 restaurants and a bar.
Still 15 euro seems a bit steep, although they are now open during practice and qualification.

It must become something like this when finished:

I was only saying the other day that it was about time the old Museum was spruced up for us members!

I like the idea of being near the track, and the extended opening hours are great.

Whilst I agree the €15 is quite a lot, at least it might keep the numbers down to something a bit more manageable if some of the "guests" don't want to cough up!

Hope they provide some decent toilets as well!

Still, I'll find out next Thursday,   ;D
Of course I buy green cars, my Aston is green, my MGB is green, my Disco Sport is green,  oh, that's not what you meant by green?

Thanks for posting the photo's Bas. It looks a lot smaller than the older incarnation though so getting a seat will be even more difficult than in years gone by - with or without the new 15 Euro entry fee. There also does not appear to be a lot of space atround it for tables and chairs.

Have those pallets been tested for structural integrity?

From the plan, it looks like 3 or 4 buildings?

Yes several buildings with some space in between, it resembles the old welcome centre setting imo.
That was a great place to get away from the busy village and just quietly relax on the lawn with a beer.

I think I'll go and watch there for practice on Wednesday.

Excellent news that it is several buildings.

We'll probably also take a look Wednesday evening.

Can anyone say exactly where it is, and does it mean that trackside viewing area(s) that was/were previously available to the general public have been taken over?

The link in the first post shows where it is on the Map but perhaps you want something more detailed.

When I took the photos of the museum I asked why the price for friends had gone up from 5€ to 15€ this year. They replied that it was because of all the money they'd laid out on our behalf. No further comment needed really............

OK from the ACO brochure I think that the new enclosure will be on the spot where the La Chapelle campsite was:

Link to Google Maps: http://tinyurl.com/o7sgu3

From the looks of it they'll close the banking to the general public (like they did at MB the last few years).
It would be easy to close off and it has easy access for the caterers and vendors via the Bugatti track.
