Year: 1998
Car: Larbre Competition Porsche 911 GT1 obviously
Drivers: J.P. Jarier, C. Rosenblad, R. Donovan
What happened: Car crashed during PQ and did not qualify

What did I win ?  ;D
I don't care - I'm a racing driver and I'm here to win, not to finish third.

Nice one hgb except for the "what happened" - no crash, but what was the principal delay that cost them so much track time and just failed to PQ as a result?

And as an extra, what car did the 3 drivers end up racing come race week? (All in the same car.)

This one's easy Rickmeolemeister!
Donavan sprained an ankle while exiting the Gents immediately prior to his stint behind the wheel. (Although inside sources say he caught his todger in his overalls, obviously the PR people had to tidy this up) Jarier had to don a helmet in haste and jump in, in his stead. In his hurry, poor old JPJ forgot to remove a ham sandwich ( in fact, a stotty-de-jambon, a local Sarthe delicacy) he was chomping on before getting behind the wheel.
It wasn't long before the mustard, mastication and g-forces had him frothing in his helmet, and the old warrior was taking some unusual lines around the esses. Some of his spurts on the straight sections however, almost made the record books. Adopting an unusual gear changing technique, involving I think, left foot braking and various pickles, he finally dragged the old girl home. But the clutch had gone....

Well Big H, after that wonderfully "creative" blurb (you should be a journalist!!), you finally hit the wotsit on the dubris with your last "observation" - 'twas indeed the clutch that caused them most grief.

There, that was quick wasn't it (including foreplay)? So Big H and hgb to share a croque monsieur with me at Le Mans 2004. (Hope the CA budget will cover all these prizes!!!) No? Oh well, time to blow the dust off the ol' Rickmeister wallet!!
