Shame I can't make it this year, I will miss Greg & Leo Mansell showing of their skills in Formula BMW cars.

Ohhh I would love to say somthing about that but wont, grrr grr and grrr..... Angry Angry Angry Smiley

They are lousy drivers that only have a drive because DADDY was a F1 World Champion. They are not racing because they are damn good at it.

Basically the opposite of Tom.

Tom and I will be heading down today (Friday ) and will be there Saturday and Sunday so if anyone on here who knows us sopts us then come and say hi

Best wishes,

Robin

Is that Tom in the nunber 10?

Yes that's Tom in the second race of the day after his coming together with Dan Murray.....  you can tell by the black tape on the nose, when he came in for a new nose/wing the clips for the front cover went missing so rather than delay him in the pits longer than necessary while they scoured the pit lane floor for the missing items they secured it on with the black tape!

There are a couple of good shots of Tom on the Sutton images site as well.

Bobblehat and I had a tent pole nicked in the middle of the night when we were asleep.

Luckily  Wink it was on Bob's side of the tent

Hi Norbert, how ya doin? Last time I saw you you was getting frisky with Bear Zarse on the roof of the Commer Kiss

Great thanks Bob, how about you?  Luckily no offspring resulted from that unholy alliance!

Maybe see you at LM in June.

As some of you already know Tom Dunstan (TKM271's son) is racing in the the 2006 Formula BMW UK Championship which this month (May) will be supporting the BTCC at Oulton Park on the 13th/14th May and the WTCC at Brands Hatch (GP Circuit) on 20th/21st May.

At only 15 Tom is the youngest single-seat racing driver in the UK and more remarkably only stepped into a kart for the 1st time in April 2005 - so is far more inexperienced than even the other drivers closer to his age, let alone the older ones at 20-21 years of age!

More details can be found at Tom's website  http://www.tomdunstan.co.uk

Tom would welcome support from any Club Arnagers who fancy coming along and saying hello.  He along with TKM271, Bobblehat and myself can be found in the Nexa Racing awning, where I am sure Tom will be delighted to show you round his BMW FB02 race car.  If anyone is staying at Brands Hatch overnight maybe a BBQ or some other Club Arnage get together could be organised on Saturday night as well.

Also thanks to those who have already been along to races and supported Tom, especially those who have already helped or have offered support in other ways.

Although we have made good progress in funding the start of Tom's career, Tom still needs further support from sponsors, partners etc.,..  Anyone who having had a look at Tom's website would like to know more about getting involved with this incredibly talented young driver should contact TKM271, Bobblehat or myself either via PM here, the website or my mobile is 07973 178 206.

We have an information pack and DVD recordings of Tom TV interviews to date which we would be delighted to send out to those who would like to know more.

Kind regards,

Robin

11  Club Arnage / It Happened To Me / Re:Speedferries on: June 22, 2005, 06:17:00 pm
It happened to me.  Did it happen to you?

We missed our booked 17:30 return crossing from Boulogne on Monday.  The next one was booked solid so we managed to blag our way on the 00:30.  So we had 6 hours to kill in Boulogne.

I noticed a couple of other familiar faces on the quayside having also missing their crossing, Bobblehat in the camper etc.  Did you use the Shuttle?

Hi Steve,

The team Bobblehat camper eventually crossed by ferry at approx 2.50am from Calais, so was a pretty dire trip for them.

I can't say we were impressed by Speedferries customer service.  In the Tiger we made the ferry with an hour and a half to spare so no problems for us.  The Beetle was booked on the 21.00 ferry and they in fact made it to Boulogne 45 minutes before the  17.30 sailing.  Knowing the Team Bobblehat camper was not going to make the ferry we asked Speedferries to swap the two vehicles over.

Bloody JOBSWORTHS refused  Roll Eyes so the beetle had to wait till 21.00 and gave the guys in the camper major grief  when a bit of flexibility would have worked wonders.

Portsmouth - Caen next year for sure.....

Anyway hope you had a good time.

Regards

Robin

Hi Robin, youv been lurcking again!!!! Wink

Whats up with Boris? It's flip a coin time between Mel and Scoob

BTW Norbert will be at Kieths on Friday to be tucked up in the camper.

Same reason we didn't take him on the MSA Euroclassic, still a bit wobbly in the suspension department, although I may take him out again over the weekend and make a final decision.

All this despite the ministrations of the fine people at Bill McGrath's  Undecided

Hi Robin,

Where did you get a RHD Mk 2 from?
I thought that they were not sold in UK, so presumed Mk 2's were LHD only.

See you in LM, have a safe trip.

Hi Barry,

You are basically right.  There are believed to be somewhere between 12 and 14 Mk 2's which are considered to be genuine RHD, of these around 7 or 8 are thought to still exist.

Approx. 6 or 8 of these were prototype or development cars and on these the exact spec varies.

Then when Chrysler took over Rootes and more or less immediately canned the Tiger as it was Ford engined, the Rootes management had a problem in that Mk 2's had been promised to a small number of VIP customers ie major dealer principals and the like.

As a result 6 Mk 2 Tigers were retreived from the dockside where they were due to be shipped to the USA and delivered complete with all the necessary parts to be rebuilt as RHD cars to Hartwell Garages.  This was duly done and these 6 cars also got a few other extras such as magnesium Minilites....

As these cars were rebuilt as RHD cars prior to initial registration they are regarded as being 'genuine' UK RHD cars, they are known as the Hartwell Tigers and MEL is one of those 6 cars.  I have been her keeper since 1992.

Have a safe journey,

Robin

PS this link is to a Classic & Sportscar article in which MEL appeared in Feb 2001

Sunbeam Tiger, 1964 to 1967
Sunbeam Alpine with an american V8 in it. 4260cc or 260cu in.
Vroom Vroom Grin

There was at least one at the Classic, as they used to be raced at Le Mans.

Hi there all,

Nearly Barry - you are correct with the specs for a Mk1

MEL as she is known to her friends is a rare RHD Mk2

Which equals 4.7 or 289 cu in in standard form (ie same block as a 289 Cobra) or in MEL's case 5.0 or 302 cu in, was on a rolling road earlier in the year to sort a fuelling problem, the RR read up to 350bhp and once the fualling was sorted she sent the dial off the top of the scale as it were  Grin

I am sure Gibberish will be 1st in the cue for a ride after his ride in the Scooby at the classic  Wink

Will try and find a pic of the Tiger to post, looks now as it it will almost certainly be Tiger or Scoob now as I picked the Bora up on Monday and suspension issue it is suffering from doesn't seem to be sorted.

See you all there

Robin

I've got barrier tape...

When, where and how much do you need it ??

***EVERYONE***

Could everyone who wants space taped off please confirm and say how much so that Gilles knows how much tape to bring and I know what pitches to try and get.
As we are leaving on Wednesday I may not be able to log in again after Tuesday PM.

Kind regards

Robin

Please provide some space for the Ferrari Spider / JPChenet / Rick Cutler / Gibberish / Steve Brown / Team Zarse / RS2's? within the CA compound.

Muchos gracias, see you Friday.

OK  So we will try and reserve a compound with 7  10mx10m pitches plus our own.

In case there is more than one ice metallic blue Scooby there we will also have our mascot Norbert, as pictured left, on display to help identify our pitch.

See you Friday,

Robin
