Have just come home very tired after another Rouen trip, during which I spent over 2 hours in the waiting room making small talk with MIL, followed by another brief visit to Deb’s room. Some signs of waking, apparently, with twitching toes etc, but then she became agitated, so they had to suppress that. They also remain concerned about the breathing, and though they have taken x-rays, I think she will be given a camera down the trachea tonight. None of this is much fun, and I am running out of steam. Oddly, her left hand has some small bandages on a finger or two - one of which glows red with an internal light source! Is this some sort of LED skin therapy?

Cheer up Ian, its now a battle of wills between good and evil...you cannot let evil win Grin

I'm really glad to hear that there is some progress; like everyone else, I cannot wait to read your post where she wakes up and sees you rather than MIL.

Chin up chap, it wont be long now.....

It could be a Pulse Oximeter.

Best wishes on TT's continued recovery.

That seems extremely likely. They have been consistently concerned about her lung performance, and this would be a part of monitoring that. Thanks!

Surely there must be some way of rigging up a Gauloise to the breathing apparatus!  Wink

Fingers crossed Ian, it sounds to me that the medics are doing an incredibly skilled and professional job and are conroling the on/off button to her best advantage. I guess it's one of those things that's hard to comprehend if you don't really know what the procedure is but I think you should have complete confidence in them.

Glad to hear the MIL turned up safely, when's she leaving?  Wink

Keep your chin up and look after yourself. Get a good meal inside you and some sleeping pills form the doc if necessary; you need all the energy you can get just now. There's loads of people this side of the pond to help - I live close to Newhaven - if you need anything please just ask.

Deb is awake! She can't yet speak - too many things in her mouth, but she is awake and alert to some extent, I understand. A sample of tissue has been taken from her lung area and is currently being analysed. I expect they'll identify it correctly as Gauloises!

Needless to say, I will be ready and waiting at visiting time - 1500 tomorrow!

Ian, that's fantastic news, we're so pleased to hear that Deb is awake.   Please do let her know that we're thinking of you both, fingers crossed for the next few days, hopefully you'll get her closer to home soon xxx

 Cheesy    great news!

Now she's okay, would there be any chance of getting over here to look after me, I'm bent double with a bad back.

Fantastic news!!!!  Cheesy

Give her our best wishes, and make sure you keep on looking after yourself too! As Andy said, keep your strength up and particularly with all the driving, keep yourself refreshed and alert!

Drive carefully on your way back up there tomorrow!
