And you can also do a 24 hours endurance race at the kartvenue for only 16.000 euro ;)You really don't want to do that, i drove a 4-hours endurance race on that track once an needed a week to recover ;D
Will be aiming to drive over, via ferry – Hull/Newcastle area. Any advice would be helpful
The white shirts are still available. I think the venue shirts (if they do go ahead), wil only be available from halfway November. More to do with cashflow and invoice dates :-\Cheers Paddy, could you put me down for a white shirt in L. Collect at silverstone?? Cheers Si
Here's the first idea for the rear of the shirt, might change a little still though... (http://www.drinkingforholland.com/Paddy/rdamshirt.jpg)SWEET!
Yes please Patrick. Put me in the snoring corner of your office as last year ;D
Count me in, Paddy - assuming you still have space!
By the way, what was the CA-list from last year? As far as I can remember it was Robspot, BobU, Andy, Steve Brown, Doris, Steve Zarse, Chris Zarse, Andy Zarse, JPChenet, HGB and Werner. Do I forget anybody? :-\
Count me in, Paddy - assuming you still have space!
Sure! It will be a while before we're up to 25 :)
I presume mr. Termite will be joining you?

Stena are still doing the Rail / Sail fare for £58 return from London to any Dutch station.
However, unlike last year, the fast Catamaran has been replaced by a couple of normal ferries - 6 hours crossing time
I'll sticky this topic also.Cheers (http://forum.drinkingforholland.com/images/smiles/icon_thumbsup.gif)
That Cutler bloke ;)
Was Rick that forgetable ;D
No, he won't. Somebody has to look after the ranch - well, that's my excuse. ;)Count me in, Paddy - assuming you still have space!

Number of cars or sober people?
The only problem we might have is how to drive everybody around :-\
.....just get some taxis. We're not talking major distances here and with everybody chipping in, it's very affordable.
If you can pencil the other two in?
A quiet little corner away from the snorers and farters will be fine for me thanks. 8)

I don't "do" Karting so count me out of that ;DNot to worry, we had the same last year with some people dropping out at the kart-track. Watching other people struggle with overtaking, barriers and black flags (Steve ;D) can be fun too!
Flying from Manc to Rotterdam. Friday pm to Sunday pm (no Saturday flights).
I could take the women with me to my home, where it's warm and comfy.

Wow big diffrence, was hoping to drive over and fill up with booze and hagel bits. Might have to change my plans.
BA is £66.40 but don't forget [...] as much free booze as you can drink.

Now there's a challenge for JPC!! ;D
(flight only lasts for 55 minutes though :-\)
........ Which might, just, be worth the extra £8 each way. You'd pay that for a sarni & a cup of coffee on easyjet anyway ....
haven't seen the bear for a while actually, maybe he's gone back to the restaurant ;)

Bob, Rick etc - are you planning on arrivng on Friday again so that we can check out the Irish bar again?
If so, can anyone (Sebass?) spare a floor to sleep on as last year?
karting centre next morninghmmm .. afternoon I hope

>:(The getting lost option apparently
I did like that Irish bar.
i'm booking 3 flights from southampton today (me, ro and my sis)... we'll arrive late friday (so we may have a night in amsterdam?!)
can anyone recommend hotels to stay in?
Any news on Paul, Andy?
Spoke to Wishy tonight, his pc connection is down, but say's he will be going over for the weekend.
So can you put his name down. - if there is still space.
If Sebastiaan can't host on the Friday, I can. Downside: I live in Rijswijk, which is a 20 minutes taxi drive from Rotterdam. Upside: only 10 minutes from the karting centre next morning and a car to take you there.

Think Barry has it, but I know Andy is now working for Maidenhead council as a safety officer, anybody know Andy surname, and could check with them.
If you get his full name, I'll ring the council if you want, let me know.
We stayed in the Prinz Heidrich last year, perfectly adequate rooms and just over the road from the Central station .......Sorry, a little off topic ....: Mrs JDS and I went back to Ams for our aniversary last august and stayed in the Brabizon Palace - way too expensive for my liking but we ate each morning in the Cafe next to the Prinz Heidrich instead of the Hhotel - good food and not too dear for tourist central too ...

It's getting better every day ;D
I will miss Sab's face on the saturdaya after drinking for England.
I will very much miss you all, have a few for me. Message for Roy, Defrost the chicken first before attempting BBQ, OR see if he can hire a prpane gun and go one better this year.

Oh yes you most certainly do! You're not to be trusted without adult supervision on a DfH weekend! ;D
I have now changed to an earlier flight as I was due to arrive at some late time of night (and the airline schedule was changed to make it even later....) plus I thought I might be missing out on some of the fun...... . 8)

You can't miss the Irish Pub ;)
Oh no, this sounds terrible, nobody knows where the Irish bar is,
I recall it being called Paddy's.
I thought it was part of the world takeover!
Will he be staying with us for the restaurant and Vinnies Vice?
Great stuff Paddy. Although I'm not sure about the idea of a professional driver watching my attempts at Karting! ::)
Dear all,
Got an email this morning about the go-kart event. Michael Bleekemolen will be our instructor for the afternoon. Michael is the father of Jeroen Bleekemolen, you all know Jeroen as the Spyker and Racing for Holland driver over the last few years at Le Mans and LMS.
Michael himself is an ex-Formula 1 driver (drove a few races in the late Seventies), so he will know enough to learn us some thing about go-karts we don't know yet. Nowadays he is still active on the race tracks racing driving Porsche Super Cup and Renault Clio Cup. More about Michael can be found here (click) (http://www.forix.com/8w/bleekemolen.html).
Sounds good... hope he is laid back and patient.... Lady PP will be racing! (Pink Racing suit?)
Are the karts full(ish) power ones or like the the uk rice pudding skin pullers?
It'll take a pretty special kart to haul my fat ass up a hill without the power being reduced to zero........
(only break by steering the front wheels viciously into the corner)
a mis-spelling of "brake"
Is accommodation readily available for friday night in Rotterdam?
Paddy, why not ask Steve to "Sticky" this post under a separate heading so as you can amend details as they change.
Paddy, why not ask Steve to "Sticky" this post under a separate heading so as you can amend details as they change.
Nah, that way you'd get too many stickies on the main page, I think there are too many already :-\
Besides, this should have been the final change. We have hired a full size coach (seats 54 people) to take us from the office to the kart track, from the kart track via the office (in case anybody want to put his/her matrass down) to the restaurant, and after dinner we'll be picked up again and brought back to get some ear pounding by Vinnies Vice.
I think it's properly arranged like this - nobody has to count glasses of alcohol all day long, as the only steering wheel they'll be holding will be the one from the go-kart :)
If Rick is going to lead the sing-a-long...
I reckon the coach is a brilliant idea too, hopefully we wont lose Pieter that way!Don't be to shure, he claimes to live on spitting distance from the cartcentre, and will join in there....
If Rick is going to lead the sing-a-long, whose is going to lead the mooning out of the back window??!! ;D
F
Fran that was way to fast a reply!
I don't think the sleepy one even know the picture exists yet!
Looks like the Fish on Fire in Orando last March (and also knowing the BA-flight story). You arrived with JPC, so my guess is it's Matt Harper ;D
However I fly in from Egypt in the early hours of the Saturday, ...
Egyptian liquor would be better ;D
Egyptian liquor would be better ;D
I've been to Egypt many times, beleave me, Patrick, after the first sip of local Egyptian Stella beer only someone with a loaded gun could get you to take a second... Fortunately they never tried to produce liquor there.
... and the Obelisk wine is even worse, Werner.
I've drank better drain cleaner :-X
Still waiting for answers from Robspot, Nobby Diesel, JDS, JPChenet, Rick Cutler, Wishy, Nopanic and the Brethren.
Excellent! Will you be arriving on Friday or Saturday?Current plan is sometime on the Friday, but need to finalise channel x-ing.
For and on behalf of The Brethren, plans are as follows...Still waiting for answers from Robspot, Nobby Diesel, JDS, JPChenet, Rick Cutler, Wishy, Nopanic and the Brethren.
Up 'till now I've had contact -as far as the list above here goes- with Vicky (who wasn't on that list as I have PM traffic with Rowena on DfH), Nopanic, Rick Cutler and Rusty. Thanks guys!
We're arranging sleeping gear at the moment, as asked if needed via PM to all involved.
Still waiting for answers from Robspot, Nobby Diesel, JDS, JPChenet, Rick Cutler, Wishy, Nopanic and the Brethren. Please answer asap as we need to know what we have to arrange for you.
Spoke to Russ yesterday, he will let me know later in the week.
I presume hgb and Werner will bring their own stuff as they are coming by car, Nobby and JPChenet might do the same...
Paddy - sorry, did'nt see any PM.

Just trying to sort out if I fly or drive it.
If I drive, what is the best ferry crossing (I'm located in the South East of England) Dover, Folkstone & tunnel are all convenient. How long is the drive, once across the water?
Cheers.
From the chunnel to Rotterdam is about 3 hours, at night with no traffic, cruising altitude 1 m above road ;D .....
I think the crossing preference is a personal thing. I have been traveling frequently since 1993 and have done just about all possible departures between Calais and Hook of Holland. There has been a time (still in the tax free era) when I was driving an artic 3 times a week from Holland to Liverpool and back, so was on the ferry six times a week for months on end. What a revelation it was when I went by Channel Tunnel in July '94. I hated the one-day-tourists on the ferries the most, always jumping queues and loading up liquor like it's going out of style. If I drive, what is the best ferry crossing (I'm located in the South East of England) Dover, Folkstone & tunnel are all convenient. Probably a daft question - are snow chains obligatory in Holland in November? (To carry with you I mean, not to use all the time, obviously!)Don't mix us up with certain regions of Germany please....
I promise never to do that! :)Probably a daft question - are snow chains obligatory in Holland in November? (To carry with you I mean, not to use all the time, obviously!)Don't mix us up with certain regions of Germany please....
7 hours late
I've got a brilliant idea. Why not wait for ages to book your flight so the price goes up from £90 to £246.
COCK!!!!!!!!!!!
I am now seeking alternative travel arrangements and the most likely option is driving via the Tunnel for the princely sum of £124. Much more flexible, don't have to get up at 5am and I don't pay for petrol.
The delay in flight booking was due to an administrative problem in obtaining the correct pass for the weekend. In fact the pass was completely revoked after the Rugby quarter final when I came home 7 hours late but I knew she'd cave..... :-\
The words of a master. ;D7 hours late
Only seven hours late ? You amateur !!!
I learnt very quickly after my first marital outing the art of getting a pass is not even bothering to ask, just fecking go. If you ask, the answer is invariably "NO" so I don't bother anymore, I just tell her I'm going and that I'll be back sometime.
;D

Wishy and me are flying with VLM, good rate and looking forward to flying in and out of city airport - very steep approach into airport.
Try flying with VLM, flights from city airport to rotterdam, still showing £30 each way - plus tax's and other bit - total - £123.00 - still cheaper than £246.
Worth a look.

Never ever tell them wich monday it will be !!

They met in London but when i ám correct they were originated in Australia.
But then : all the ozzie's where pommie's.
He He! Lady Pig-Pen(Tamanian Devil) has Scottish ancestory! Says it all really!!!!!!
Bundy will on its way soon dude!!

Looks like it will only be the standard Bundy but matey in the shop did say he will try and get some of the other.... will keep you posted!
Silver label vintage was rather good but Lady PP got that for me in Tazzie.. and it didn't last long!!!
Did someone mention Bundy??? :o
Love to go to Australia.
For those of us who are visiting Rotterdam next week..........what time of the day are we meeting up at the Irish bar.
It's just a question of logistics for Neil and I........... as we are staying in a hotel 5mins walk from the bar.
We will be arriving at about lunchtime if all goes well.
Wishy

So, where's the problem with that?
I wouldn't mind ;D You guys might have to go back to work/family though :-\
Oh well, it will probably be a quiet weekend weatherwise. Always the thing with these predictions! ;)
I'll be first looser then, cosey and dressed near the draft machine! ;D
It was me. Max has 3 bottles being delivered by me next weekend. Its only the normal yellow label but I have a source in Highcliffe, Dorset. The OP is evil and the silver label vintage is killer.... and who mentioned Bathhurst 09... would love to go and show the thickos how people really party. If anyone is up for it... lets get a crew together and show em how its done. I have lots of mates out there who can help out so it wont be a big deal getting sorted for tickets etc.

Ahh, Bundy. Many a night's worth of memories have been lost to that fine Aussie tipple. Tom the Lawnmower Man is partial to a drop of O.P. on bbq'd bananas at Le Mans. Such a shame for him that I can't be arsed to cook them and I've normally drunk any Bundy we may have with us before the bbq is at the right temp to do the nanas. Still, at least I'm happy.
There is a supplier over here but I need to check with friends as to where it is. I usually get mine when the family come to visit.

Time to start warming up your livers (as if you aren't already).We... The brethren will be around at similar sort of time.... Liver is poised ready for action.
Me and Colonel Chenet shall be arriving mid/late afternoon ready for a light sprinkling of carnage.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
OK - I know its here somewhere (I think there was even a photo!) and I have tried to search, but could someone tell me the name and street address of "the irish pub" - just in case I get lost?!
Ta very much.
F
No, not the O'Shea's. To be honest I don't know the name of the pub (I don't go out often enough)Wrong one Neil. ;)
Name of the street is Rode Zand, which runs paralell with the Coolsingel, the main street of Rotterdam. Coolsingel has tube stations, the station you want is "Beurs" (Dutch for Trade).
On this map the red dot is the pub, and the arrow is where the picture above is taken from. That small little M at the bottom left is the tube station (metro).

Done, Neil. One down one to go. :)
Unfortunately, I also have a mental picture burned into my retinas that may require extended therapy to cure - traumatic doesnt even start to describe it.....
Car looks great!Still drunk?
F*cking cool gig, I tell 'ya! 8)
Paddy, can you let me know when they have finished their CD?
Have discussed with Vincent earlier in the week that I will drop details regarding the new CD on this forum as soon as they are available. They seem very happy with it, and the way they sounded last Saturday I think they are in top form at the moment 8)

Well thanks to my son, who has downloaded the following on his youtube account, so Mark blame him.Top singing dude!
Clip from a small camera, so best of what was available.
This was filmed at the weekend, not sure what time, but quite late, but the party is still in full drunkard mode.
And Vinnies Vice were great, what a great band, did the dutch proud!

Everybody thanks a lot for coming over to Holland to make this another legendary weekend. Really appreciated your presense, you're a great bunch of people! 8)Dude... I "Think" the last standing were you, me and Rusty... vague memories of 5.30ish on the watch when final slurred goodnights were said... fantastic!
Weekend in brief:
*Friday early arrivals got very drunk in the Irish pub. Dunno what they put in the beer, but I had the worst hangover since Sebring.
*Saturday morning gathering went well. Untill the coach was supposed to arrive that was. Something went wrong in the planning office, and we had to wait for nearly two hours for the coach to arrive. Sadly this meant we missed out on Michael Bleekemolen, who had another appointment.
*Go karts meant lots of bruises for many people, Fran did a low flyer with one of the karts and Rowena got done for drinking and driving. I surprised myself with the laptimes, was fourth overall in the end.
*The restaurant was great. Food was served very fast, and the service was pretty good. JPC got another mascotte for next year's tour of circuits.
*Back at the workshop Vinnies Vice made the building shake. This was an excellent gig, especially the drummer seemed to have a real good time. I was one of the last ones to go to bed, after six this morning apparently.
*This morning all got up eventually and gradually made our way home.
Thanks to everybody for helping where you could, it made life easier for all of us. Special thanks to JPC for the groceries, 'her indoors' really apreciated your efforts!

Thanks for the many and kind warm words! ;)My neck still hurts.... all associated with the massive shunt I had half way round my first heat after being well oiled and drifting like a teenger. The kart snapped strait and I buried it into the armco so hard it remained there for the whole meeting. Stuck by the front end plastic. Ha Ha!
As for karting, it will probably get worse for me as I entered some stupid competition a few months ago, thinking I'd probably never hear from it again. Got a phone call yesterday to say I'm invit my firs heat ed to go to Coronel's track next Sunday. Hope the current bruises will be less by then... :-\
