Sure thing KP.Are you and Gilles definate for Goodwood this weekend PM
I am - stand 140 all weekend, have to do some interviews etc, but that's my base. Will keep trying to get Gilles involved. Which day(s) are you there? Sorry there's no Flambadou equivalent locally (to my knowledge)!

Think the race should last about 6 hours. PM, your planning looks immaculate - can't wait for another Flambadou evening, followed by some racing!

are? what on you about
In my dyslexic way I was raising the point that it was not very polite of you to insult Gilles' home town. It has, in fact, many virtues, but then how would you know? 'nuff said.

Club Arnage / Help / Re:Hotel Recommendation Sought

I cannot recommend too highly the Chateau de Montaupin at Oizé, about ten miles south of the circuit. It is officially a bed and breakfast, but serves excellent meals most evenings. The owners have close relationships with the circuit, and the husband had a lot to do with Sebastien Bourdais’s career development. The rooms are, in effect, suites, beautifully decorated. The garden has a swimming pool, and the welcome is excellent. If you have dinner there, they tend to give you too much in the way in the of drink before dinner, let alone during the meal! They also have a separate gite in the grounds. Rates are very reasonable. – tel: (0033) (0) 243 87 81 70.
The Hotel de France, at la Chartre sur le Loir, a little further south, has very strong connections with the race – hence the bar with its walls lined with signed photographs of drivers and their cars over many years. Christophe, the barman is a mine of racing information. The restaurant is excellent, although some of the rooms are on the small side. Tel 02 43 44 40 16
Not a hotel, but a “must” restaurant is la Petite Auberge at Malicorne-sur-Sarthe, with a “to die for” terrace overlooking the river Sarthe. Magic on a summer’s evening – must book. Tel 02 43 94 80 52.
Finally, do not miss a meal in Le Mans old town, at Le Flambadoux – as long as you like copious southwestern French food and wine. Tel 02 43 24 88 38.
Happy hunting!

Do you think this means that they may be thinking of dumping pre qual in May? monkey
No. The May weekend is no longer pre-qualifying anyway. But the November race isa means of prequalifying for an invitation to race in June. The detailed regs are not yet out, but the new European LM series will eventually become part of the prequalifying process. Clear as mud, I know - we'll have to wait until the full regs are published.

Man: Doctor I need some more sleeping pils for the wife. Doctor: Why ? Man: She's woken up.
Mark TTATL Gang
Mark, if yoy are fed up with yours, can I have her phone number ?? Gilles - perhaps you should first bring Mark's joke to his wife's attention, and then ask HER the same question! See you all under the same tree, same Friday, next June?

I shall be there on all three days, based on the Automobile Historique stand in the Trade Area, but getting out and about for interviews etc. Yes the English translation of the current issue will be available. I very much hope that Gilles will be there too. I shall bring my tiny weight to bear on the boss to try and make that a reality!

Just a quick thank you to all of you who made the CA rendezvous. It was a great pleasure to put faces to names. Here's to next year!
Now I have to write my report on the Legends race, if I can remember it.

It would be a huge travesty of justice for their enjoyment of this fantastic weekend to be taken away from them forever by a mindless idiot!!
Well said J-P C !! If only we could all enjoy ourselves without upsetting anyone else.

Thanks for the number. The numbers are French ones. if your uk mobile works in France you just dial the number I've given. From UK dial 0033 and drop the leading zero. If your phone doesn't work in France you will need to ring from a public phone. I can tell you how to do that if necessary. Or ring me now.

You may be amused to know that I approached the Marketing Department of the ACO last year, asking for a concession to sell ice. I was quite happy to drive around all the campsites selling the stuff off a refrigerated van.
The stroppy cow in charge told me there was no call for it!
I'm afraid I was rude enough to her to make it impossible for me to go back there. Gave me great saisfaction all the same.
