Club Arnage / General Discussion / Training it from Paris DeGaulle to Le Man
|
on: April 01, 2013, 01:31:32 am

I've done a bit of a search here, but does anyone have any info on getting to Le Mans from the airport in Paris? I believe there is a station at the airport, is it direct or is there a connection? Also. what kind of restrictions does the train have on luggage size and quantity?
Thanks,
John

Hi. My plans for Sebring this year are in the shitter. I'm still trying to find a way to get there. Does anybody know of anyone that is getting into Orlando on Thursday and can give me a ride to the track? Free copy of the latest version of "Turn 10 Sebring" and anything else that would encorage your help. Well, almost anything... John

Howdy Cousins!
First, nice to see all you Arnagers at Sebring this year. One of the nicest fringe benefits of this addiction is the connections made across continents, so always great to connect up in person.
Now for MY needs! I've been trying to find a way to get in touch with Simon Wright or Ian Dawson from ECO racing. I've googled my little brain off but could never find an email or mailing address. Any tips, hints or factual data you can provide would be helpful.
Thanks,
John

I grew up in Wichita, Kansas, about 3 hours south of KC. You definitely want to get some BBQ. It will be some of the best you can possibly have, and Lee is right about Arthur Bryant's. Weather is a real crap shoot. Could be snowing, could be raining, could be 60 degrees F. It's a little early for tornado season, but you could still get a might thunderstorm if you're lucky. They are very impressive. Been a while since I'v been in old KCMo, but the Nelson Art Museum is very good, check out the Westport section, should be some good music and bars. Blues and Jazz. Don't bother going across the river to Kansas City, Kansas... And, on an historical note: Kansas City can claim one of America's great contributions to international sports car racing, Masten Gregory. If you're not familiar with him (really? can that be?) here's link on him: http://www.geocities.com/mastoidfan/mg.htmlPeople should be pretty friendly. Us mid-westerners are funny that way. Yes it can be very conservative politics wise, but that doesn't mean you can't find smart people with realistic views of the world, and dare I say... liberal agendas? John

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Spa photo for Turn 10 video
|

Hello over there!
As many of you know I am nearing completion on my Turn 10 project. Over 2 1/2 years in the making and I'm getting close. Oddly enough, I have a need for a shot from Spa. I would like something that shows fans and surroundings that would identify it as Spa, such as track, trees, etc. Who's got some?
For those attending Sebring, I will be showing the current version at the Friday night slide show. Total running time is around 25 minutes, so bring a beer (or other suitable beverage) and some popcorn!
Thanks to all Club Arnage members for their help and support. I know there is at least one photo in there already, a really nice shot with the Aston Martin Team.

A quick update on my trip. I was late arriving to Maranello (Italian road signs SUCK!!!) so I spent Thursday doing the Ferrari thing. Very Cool. Luca Badoer was doing some testing. My wake alarm was the sound of a Ferrari v8 at full soung. Extremely cool. Museum was fantastic. Brilliant as you brits say!! A full report (with pictures) to follow.
Alas, the Mille Miglle trip will have to be another time.
Thanks for everyones input!

Hello and thanks to all. I am in Rome for my work, all my gear make it through customs and its a beautiful day in a beautiful city. I think Monza is too far given the time I have so I will probably opt for the Maranello trip. I will try to spend some time in Maranello "drinking, watching the world go by, looking at women, drinking..."
Great idea taking the old national road, being on the same road as traveled by Moss and countless others, even in a crappy little rental will be a thrill. Now that was Road Racing! Not sure I can drive and shoot without falling off the road but I'll see what I can do. Any significant spots on that road or any other places in the area? I will do my best to make a little travel film for Sebring. Thanks again and keep the ideas coming! John

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Tips for my Italy Trip?

Hello to all,
I will be working in Rome next week and will have two days off to do some exploring, not much I know (I will also be of little budget). I'm thinking of renting a car and either making a run to Maranello to gaze at the Ferrari factory, or possible all the way to Monza to visit the banking. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, especially routes and lodging. I speak no itialian. I will also have the video camera with me, don't know if they would allow me shots of the banking or anything else of interest to us all.
Thanks and "Ciao Baby"
John

Lee, Thanks for the pictures. I got an early father's day gift and was able to get most of the race recorded to DVD, didn't bother with some of Speed's coverage last night when the satellite was down. I loved Bob Varsha's comment: "We used "Satelltes Are Us" for our feed and we're having a little difficulty." I was glad to have the Speed coverage but too many commercials and not enough racing. I would loved to have seen what Motors TV was doing, and early in the week I was able to get Radio Le Mans working on my Mac, and recorded most of their feed before being informed that I could get it all in 1 hour installlments as podcasts on iTunes. I thought their coverage was terrific. I wished I could have been there but I spent the day in my Turn 10 T-Shirt, swithed to my Shane Lewis shirt this morning for the finish. Can't wait to hear the stories from Team Impala upon their return.
Work on the Turn 10 video is progressing, should be more to see in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to seeing the final race for the (wonderfully noisy) R8 when they come to Lime Rock in 2 weeks. If anybody else is going drop me a line, I'm trying to get a contingent of my video buddies to go with me, maybe we can establish a "Turn 10 North"beach head in the Connecticutt hillside.
Hi to all.

Not to worry about the language thing. Three years ago our family did a home exchange in France, My daughter Hayley speaks french fluently, and she discovered that I am fluent in "franglais". Which is where I speak english with a very cheesy french accent, loudly, throw the few french words I do know in at awkwardly and sometimes inaapropriate times. "Qu'est-ce que c'est? Ahh.... Oui!" and provide just one more reason for the world to hate americans!
Thank you all for your offers of help. I'm going to try and sort this all out this week and next.
