1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Who, Where, What When 2024 on: April 04, 2024, 11:41:47 pm
Also on Thursday 6th June overnight to Caen (Brittany Ferries).

I don't think we have ever met face to face, hope to bump into you on the outward leg.

Just over 2 months to go, so approiate time to start this thread!

Out on the night boat to Caen on Thursday 6th June, arriving Arnage corner camping on Friday morning after a quick visit to SuperU for wine, meat, cake and I suppose a bit of green stuff if I must.

Soul Red Mazda Cx-5. Rammed with 2 holidays worth of luggage.

Rhys arriving Saturday.

Leaving Monday morning after the race and heading south to Toulouse to pick up SWMBO at the airport, son house sitting if any toe-rags reading this!
That will be a bucket list item ticked, heading south not north after the race!

2 weeks on the Med, Bezier and Nimes, and back on the evening boat on the 2nd of July.

Hi John
So when on foot, you have to exit the campsite at the car entrance and reenter through the GE gate with everyone else?
4  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Qatar on: March 05, 2024, 12:43:53 pm
Watched the entire race which I really enjoyed.
Felt a bit sorry for Peugeot.
BoP needs a few tweaks but they do have a couple of races before the big one to tinker with it.
I was also a bit surprised by BMW's showing, but they had a slow start in IMSA last year and although it's not a brand new car, it's a new team, new driver line ups on different tyres, so it will be interesting to see how they go at Imola.
That Lambo looks stunning!
Very glad I have tickets for LM, should be a cracking race.
5  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Let's talk about the revised Safety Car procedure for 2024? on: January 19, 2024, 06:06:42 pm
Not a great fan of safety cars at LM, seen to many races ruined by them, the year the Pink Pig won, 3 of the 4 classes were basically over before half way due to safety car interventions and insurmountable time gaps when the race resumed. The cars are far to reliable these days, if a lap or even 3 minutes is lost it is very difficult to make that up.
I much prefer full course yellows.
I appreciate that some issues require the safety car to provide gaps in the traffic, however I think more situations could be covered by a FCY, especially if severe penalties were dished out to drivers taking the p*ss.
I would almost prefer to see the race red flagged, the cars pulled into the pits and then, on resumption, released in the order and time gaps than the vagaries of a SC.

Belated Happy Christmas and I hope everybody has a great New Year.

As last year's race was the best one I have seen in 20 years, I hope that with the addition of new teams and the experience gained by this years newbies that 2024 will be even better.
My tip for the win would be Porsche, but not necessarily one of the factory cars!

The days are finally getting longer, the countdown begins. Grin

Resale site is working, just got a full week GA.
There were 4, but were sold very quickly.
8  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: No barcodes on GA ticket on: November 16, 2023, 10:23:47 pm
Surprise, surprise, I received an email from the ACO a couple of hours ago telling me to reprint my ticket to include the barcode!

As this has happened 2 years running I'm beginning to wonder if this a security issue, making sure all payments have cleared and are above board before allowing you to print a valid ticket.

Seems a bit clever for the ACO though! Grin Grin
9  Club Arnage / General Discussion / No barcodes on GA ticket on: November 16, 2023, 04:44:58 pm
If you, like I did, printed off your GA tickets as soon as you bought them on members release, you may not have noticed that they have no barcode or QR code on them.
I've just gone into my account and reprinted the tickets in my basket which now have both codes on them.
I think this happened last year as well.

Thx to you both.
I'm arriving early, Friday before test day so will have a chance to drive round the site, suss it out and pick my spot.
11  Club Arnage / General Discussion / ETIAS delayed again. on: November 10, 2023, 07:40:24 pm
Title says it all.
Delayed to Q2 2025.
I'm not holding my breath, this is about the 4th delay of its introduction.
If I didn't know better I'd suggest the ACO were organizing it!
12  Club Arnage / Help / Re: Entrance/access Arnage camping/spectator banking on: November 09, 2023, 09:49:47 pm
Interesting, may be a fact which decides where I camp on the site.
Walking being an issue.
Can understand why the ACO wouldn't want to man another entrance.
13  Club Arnage / Help / Entrance/access Arnage camping/spectator banking on: November 09, 2023, 07:37:59 pm
Has anybody camped recently at Arnage?
To access Arnage viewing area do you have to leave camping by the main entrance/exit and use the main entrance into the viewing area?
Or is there another entrance to the viewing area further into the campsite?
14  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Get ready to be shafted! on: November 09, 2023, 07:18:21 pm
Just seen this on one one the ticket agencies:

'Prices are based on 2023 plus any ACO inflation increase'

I imagine there will be a few surprised customers Grin
15  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Who's Camping where 2024? on: November 09, 2023, 06:02:35 pm
They could of course make these campsites a lot more popular if the built a viewing area along the Mulsanne which  the public could use with a GA ticket.
Say in that field under where it says Poste 10Bis.
But would be far to sensible for the ACO.

Just noticed there's a Thai restaurant off the Mulsanne.
Anybody ever tried it?
