1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Waze or TomTom in France on: September 23, 2023, 01:23:50 pm
My favorite feature of TomTom is being able to set up routes on My Drive on my desktop which will transfer to my TT app and Jo's TomTom. If you want to go cross country or the scenic routes it's excellent.

Is there a similar function with Waze?

For those with a liking for data - http://www.clubarnage.com/forum/index.php?action=stats

Looks like July 2016 was when the decline happened - seem to fall off a cliff after LM that year.

I think this was about the time the FB page started

Welcome back!

It's the facebook effect I'm afraid.

FB page starts and the banter and info disappears to be replaced by photo after photo, stupid comment after stupid comment. There's one guy who seems to think that it's his own page for his photos. Unfortunately he seems to put them on about 4 pages that I'm a member of.

Same has happened to many online forums, I am a member of Smaxoc, which was one of the best car owners forums I've ever seen. Now makes this forum look busy! Meanwhile on FB the IQ level of many of the posters is about 90 IMHO.

Such a shame, one thing you learn over the years is that progress and tech can sometimes not be an improvement on what came before.

7  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Test Day on: May 24, 2023, 09:28:15 am
I'm lucky enough to be at test day this year. Never been before so a couple of questions.
I know that there are a lot of changes this year, but would be interested in a heads up on info in previous years.

Are all the entrance points open to the circuit?
Any Grandstands? I am ACO member so can normally access 17 & 18.
Car parking? I have a disabled parking ticket for P 7, I wonder if it will be open?
Are the spectator areas at Arnage & Mulsanne open?
Do Radio Le Mans transmit on FM at the circuit that day?

Thx in advance.

I understand that tyre warmers have been reinstated for LM.
No news on if that applies to the remaining WEC races though.

What sizes are available?
I'm looking for "I ate all the pies region"  Grin

No tyre warmers is going to result in a driver being injured or worse IMHO.
 Sad

I never did find the Grand Marnier crepes, but I'm told they weren't cheap

They weren't dirt cheap, but not to excessive.
The great thing about them was that they put a generous measure of Grand Marnier on them but also had bottles of the stuff on the counter so you could put extra on them!
At 2am on a cold night you could crimp the paper plate and pour a triple of warming GM down your throat and then the carbs and sugar from the crepe were a godsend.
Greatly missed!

Out Portsmouth-St Malo for the first time ever. Wednesday 7th June 20:15 Brittany Ferries

If you are on the St Malo night boat, think about the proper restaurant rather than the self service.

It's pretty good, buffet starters, served main, buffet desserts ( to die for if you like desserts ) and buffet cheese.
About £30 pp, IIRC last year.
It's a great start to the holiday, the most civilised method of crossing the Channel, rolls into St Malo at 08.15, so you can get a decent night's sleep.

Out Thursday 1st June, 20.15 Pompey/St Malo.
First time attending test day.

Back Monday 12th 16.30 Caen/ Pompey.
In time for my wedding anniversary on the 13th!

Camping on Epinettes.

Mazda CX-5, boring but it takes all the gear I need.
