Just a note to say THANKS!  That's just the most incredible video, what La Sarthe is really about.  No big sandy run offs, no driver aids (anyone hear the Traction Control on the No 1 Aston last year...either that or it's rear SU carb needed turning back a flat or two!)....just huge amounts of power and  a very fast road.b  Awesome.

I remember Jan Lammers once describing Mulsanne Straight as a relaxing moment in the race because all you have to do is keep it straight and put your right foot down. Might have something to do with experience.

If I was you, I wouldn't start from here

Don;t recall that as the In Car 956 video - in that one, Ickx passes Bell just after the Mulsanne corner, and then Bell follows him through the rest of the circuit..

MG Mark

Just watched the 'in car 956' Video and its as Mark says, and the camera postion is different and the footage is different.
Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better.

Thank for the link Smokie.
Well worth watching, I didn't realise it took so long to drive Mulsanne, even at those speeds.
If I was you, I wouldn't start from here

briliant. ;D

Why Oh Why did they have to make changes to the circuit? ??? ???

Maybe the video and DVD are different, it's definitely off the DVD.  On the DVD version there are two laps, the first which is as the clip, then on the second lap there is a commentary, and that is the lap where Ickx passes after the Mulsanne straight.

Great DVD, the Nordschleife if particularly entertaining!  ;)

If you have a couple of minutes to spare, have a lookat this in car footage of Fangio.
