I think the monza is aclose relative to an opel monza?

I think the Opel Monza or Vauxhall Royale as it was known in the UK (a great old beast BTW) was a close relative of the Vauxhall Carlton and Opel (Rekord?) large RWD 4 door saloon.

Embarrasingly, I used to sell these old smokers in a previous life.
The Royale Coupe was the Vauxhall version of the Opel Monza and the Royale Saloon was mirrored by the Opel Senator. Vauxhalls had 2.8 six and Opels 3.0 six. For the time, they were loaded, but waaay too expensive.
An Opel Monza and a Chevy Monza have nothing in common, but the name.

I found it hard to belive that the Monza qualifed in 14th postion, about only 5secs slower than DeCadnets DFV Lola that finished 3rd.

Supplementary question: Which other major manufacturer has never been represented?

Skoda?  Grin

No, amazingly there has been a Skoda! Entered in 1950, it was a "Sport" model and it didn't make the finish, abandoning with what the bible describes simply as "rod".

Saab ran at Le Mans back in the 50's I believe.

So I'll stick with Volvo

Saab did indeed run in the 50s, two cars in fact were entered (neither finished) in 1959.

As for Volvo, this is a moot point as although they have never entered per se as a factory, but they have been represented as a Volvo powered Tiga attempted to qualify (unsuccessfully) back in 1987.
