R8KDJ

As this is Your first trip to LM, I will say nice move  Wink I know that You will not be dissatisfied.
Things to see? - Beside the Race itself (wich I see as a minor part):

- All the cars people are going in to LM (quite a few classics)
- The parade at fridag evening (in the centre of Le Mans city)
- The Mulsanne and Arnage corners
- The bars at Arnage
*- The pitwalk at friday
*- The unofficial burnout at friday on the "main"-road just outside Bleu (anyone knows the time this useally starts?)
- Almost everything else, besides from the toilets!

*- You probatly will miss these, but keep them in mind for next year

Cheesy

I have now collected my camping permit for Beausejour (Thanks JPChenet).  I can't believe there is only 3 weeks to go...  It will be our first trip to Le Mans so we're really looking forward to it!

Group name: Piston Broke (because that's what we will be after the weekend  Grin )

Travel plans:  We're travelling on the Friday morning from Portsmouth to Cherbourg and then returning on Monday night!

ETA:  I think we'll be some of the last to arrive, I guess about 5pm ish...

Campsite: Beausejour - Anyone else staying there?

Any plans for open-to-all events/parties:  Not as yet but...

Any advice on where to go and what to see greatly appreciated!!!

What car are you taking down??  We'll wnader down to Beausejour at some point to see some other frineds so we'll call by and nick a beer off you  Wink Also, as I said last night, call by our place at Maison Blanche to break up your journey to the track and village.

Amended. Sorry for the mistake.

Also a 'Well Spotted That Man' must go to tmdg who did spot that we had it as the 71st race (via cut and paste from the official site) and not the 72nd as it well is.

Unfortunatley, I am designated driver so will be the only sober one for the journeys...  I think i'm going to have a lot of catching up to do but it's a challenge i'm looking forward too!

Hi R8KDJ
Be  sure to stop and pick up some beer before driving at BSJ. Good move on the designated driver, find some other poor sod for the return journey Roll Eyes
Piston poor is the best way my friend.

Well, it seems that a few danes have made it public that they will appear. My Danish wife will be there with me at BSJ. Any other Danes headed to Lemans?

No name
No exotic machinery – just the finest Jacques could make in Le Harve (Renault)

First time

Going with my eldest son who is 10 (brother in law whimped out) so only me driving,

Going Friday Am via tunnel, due to seasick child on last sea cat crossing we made and general convenience, not camping this year.

Son’s great idea was to get two sleeping bags and a grandstand seat and just stay there for 24 hrs.  Has any one ever done this?  It didn’t appeal.

Hi Ron and welcome to LM.

Every year I see people sleeping by the tackside, just trying to catch all of the race.
So You won't be the only ones  Wink

Hi Big Ron,

Your son will become bored witless within a couple of hours if you don't move from the grandstand. I can see his theory, but in practice it is misguided. Better to base yourselves at your carpark and go back there for a couple of hours shuteye lying on the grass late at night. You can go to sleep with Radio LM playing so when you wake up you'll know what the crack is. You'll be able to wander around the spectator areas too without lugging around your sleeping bags etc. There's so many other distraction at the track too and any youngster will want to have a look at them. Anyway, the race itself will be rubbish this year I reckon, unless you're an Audi fan.

Stick a tent into a rucksack and walk onto one of the campsites. You will not have to pay and you will have somewhere to leave your luggage.
