not really fair play to tell such things concerning a defeated competitor...
... and so definitely not an Olympic value !!!  Angry

be proud for your victory not the loose of your "enemy" !!!  Undecided

Good point Gilles I agree. I know how disappointed I would have been had we lost, and it was very close.

BTW as long as GT Race isn't an olympic sport, I don't care having Summer Olympic games in France  Wink

Gilles sorry if I offended you with my little comment about Mr Chirac, it's just that his comments made about British food yesterday were just a bit too strong IMHO

Chriac's comments were made off-mic to some of his work buddies.  Remember when John Major made a comment about the "bastards" in his cabinet ?  We all make dodgy comments or jokes about the odd person at functions/parties.  Cheesy

For that I cannot loathe Chirac.  However, his instant jumping on the rebate bandwagon the moment he lost the referendum was completely pathetic  Roll Eyes

I love France and Le Mans, I just want to see the clip where the French find out they've lost  Grin

Chirac’s comments may not have been intended for broadcast but are obviously his true thoughts and mind set. He is just one man, just in the wrong job, like you, been to France many times and never had a bad time always met with good people - but not politicians.
Sorry Giles, maybe lots of you guys will come over for some English hospitality.

How about Endurance Drinking?   Grin

Does this mean that the Marathon will now consist of stumbling from pub to pub, being thrown into the street at closing time and then crossing the finish line with a arm full of beer from the off-license and kabobs from an all night Paki diner.

I don't know Fax, but the Olympics in Londontown will let us Brits do what we do best. I don't mean marching bands and pomp and circumstance, I mean getting a right old lash on.

I for one wasn't to keen to start with, there will be terrible rows over the construction of facilities and the general politics of putting the event together, you mark my words. It will bore the arses off us for years to come. But on the plus side, I would love to see Chirac's face when he heard the news. I love France and feel very sorry for the Parisiens, even if they are the rudest people on earth. But boy does that man Jacque take the cookie or what!

My post was mostly tongue & cheek with a bit of coming to Gilles defense thrown in.  Wink  On the serious side, hope you guys don't lose your asses on this like every other Olympic city does.  I think Atlanta's still paying for the '06 games.

AFAIK, Montreal was almost bankrupt after the 1976 games.

Hey Andy,
I think you pretty well hit it on the screws.  No doubt about it, its going to be one hell of a party when 2012 gets here and I'm happy for you guys getting it.  But I had friends and family who lived and worked in Atlanta during the years leading up to the 1996 games and they all said it got to be a gigantic pain-in-the-ass.  The bickering over venues, rights, revenue, etc. all turned into a organizational nightmare.
