The two factory M8F's were the first racing cars I ever saw in person. My dad, uncle, brother & I arrived just as the Saturday morning practice for Group 7 got underway at the '71 Mid-Ohio Can-Am weekend. We pulled over to the turn 1 spectator fencing just past the bridge, got out of the car, and could hear cars thundering up the pit straight. The two factory Gulf cars of Hulme and Revson came past in a blare of noise, and headed up the hill toward the Keyhole. Was caught, hook, line & sinker.
