On a slightly Pedantic note:-

The pages of the new forum claim to be Valid XHTML and CSS.  However, they are not.
This sholdn't cause any one any real problems but it is possible that some browsers don't render the pages as expected.

Since the update if I try to use ''the mark as read' button, I get a box come up reading 'session verification failed, try logging out and logging back in'
Any ideas anyone?

HI Barry,

I've not seen that problem and I've used it on a number of occasions since the upgrade.
Does it happen every time?   What browser are you using?

Tom.

Hi Tom

Won't let me mark items as read at all.
Browser, now that's getting a bit technical for poor old me, but it's explorer, which I have just realised was updated at about the same time as the CA upgrade. this could be the cause of the problem.
Any clues as to where to start would be welcomed by a non techie like me.

Cheers
Barry

My advice is to abandon Microsoft Internet Explorer and switch to firefox. It seems faster and is where most of the ideas in Internet Explorer 7 have come from! :police:

To get firefox go to www.getfirefox.com it is free and I think is a lot faster then the IE7 alternative.

Hi Barry,

Here are some things to do.

First to find out  which browser your using  click:  Help -> About internet explorer
That should bring up a window that says Internet Explorer 7  and gives the version I'm guessing it will say Version: 7.0.5730.11

If that is the case then it works for me as far as I can tell.

So next try changing your profile.
Click the Profile button. Then on the left click "Look and Layout Preferences"

You then see "Current Theme: Forum or Board Default (change)"  Click (change).
Then click  the "use this theme"  in the
"SMF Default Theme" pane.

See if that cures your problems.

Let me know how it goes.

Hmm, I too have had the problem where trying to mark all messages as read gave the following error

Quote from: Dodgy Forum Software Upgrade
Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.

I tried all the usual cookie deletion, logging on/off etc to no avail, but switching to SMF Default Theme does seem to have fixed the issues.

Now I just have to get used to the different look  :(

Help!  The calendar link seems to have developed a mini glitch - the only month I can link a topic to is the current one - no drop-down months in the menu.  Is this a result of the upgrade?

It looks like it works if you're using the SMF Default theme rather than the current / old theme.

The only thing is Steve, that everybody's avatars have been chopped in half!

Hi Tom

Tried as you suggested and it then works ok.
Mark as read also does not work with the 'converted theme from YaBB SE' setting.

As I prefer the default setting, ( it's easier on my aging eyes), I'll have to swop over if i want to mark as read.

Thanks for your help

Barry

The only thing is Steve, that everybody's avatars have been chopped in half!
They are not actually chopped in half.  You will see that there is a scroll bar below the avatar that lets you horizontally scroll it.
The style limits the avatar to a % of the width of the screen. On my 1280 x 1024 screen avatars that art 150px Avatars show completly but 200px Avatars require a bit of scrolling.

IMVHO it's better that way since you don't get loose so much of the screen when people have large avatars.

Hi Barry,

Atleast we found a solution.  Though it sounds a bit clunky.  It may be easier to get a a better pair of eyes.
I've been looking for a pair for myself for a while.  If I find a supply I'll let you know.  :D :D :D
