Jem Oh nice! Reminds me of my last visit to Dublin a couple of weeks ago when my hire car was "upgraded" at the airport to a Hyundai 4x4 of some unpronounceable name with front windows that lowered themselves at anything over 70mph. Mind you, that was the top speed! Gearbox out of an M6 sounds a bit costly!!!!!!!!

Who, when, where? - that's a lot of questions, all of them very difficult for a Tuesday morning. Well, I reckon...most of Tuesday I'll be wobbling through the Surrey, and then the South Downs, probably being chased by a dog, in the regions of Cobham, Godalming, Haslemere, Hill Brow (oh God, I just know what's going to be involved there...), Petersfield and Portsmouth in time for a late 'artnoon crossing to Cherbourg. Then an early start on Wednesday morning, proceeding in a general south easterly direction through the Normandy Alps and Calvados Cols, giving it all I can muster in order to stay in front of the large threshing machine that that b*stard Zarse will have tipped off. Overnight in a hedge, haystack, or maybe Domfront, and then onto Le Mans approaching via Arnage and hoping to get to Maison Blanche by Thursday night. I suspect I'll be quite thirsty and with buttocks like a baboon in heat. H

H,
When you manage to find the A3 again, stay to the left of that solid white line. Us engineers call that the hard strip!
Generally it's a lot smoother but mind out for the odd exhaust!
I'm not sure if cycles are allowed down the A3(M) but will let you know tomorrow. My site is just off it.
Good luck on the ride and don't forget there's a 'score' init at MB.

Steve,
Luckily the M6 is under warranty. Spoke to the garage today ( I had to chase them !) and they also found a second problem, something to do with Vanos and oil whatever that is.
Anyway, upshot was they did not know how to cure either the Vanos or gearbox and now await instruction from BMW.
If you sit back and think about it for too long you could begin to get quite upset.

Hope you like the smell of Gaulloise, cos I reckon you're going to enjoy a ride in the tow truck. The LDV is, as I'm sure you all know, basically a Leyland Sherpa, designed in the early seventies. New bits and bobs like engines now of course, but it's a very old design made on what was then a decrepid production line. It was itself based on the 1960 Austin J4 type thingy and they share some body panels to this very day.

Team JPC will be arriving from early Thursday morning. Usual spot on Maison Blanche in the Platinum Triangle with DfH, Delboy and Rick. We should be pretty easy to find! Does this mean dis-regard the "Zone" instructions, because I'm up for that! Tickets say something about Zone D this year ,,,,, advance party "may" read this as "B". Skinner Tours will be opposite yourselves, next to the Liverpool Boys as usual then.
