0330 - Just returned from 240 mile round trip to Charles-Nicolle hospital in Rouen. Deb has multiple fractures to arms, legs and ribs. She was in surgery while I was there but all vital signs seem ok. She arrived at hospital conscious and relatively alert. Wonderful array of hepful staff on duty at midnight - we were offered coffee in china cups in a waiting room, while they brought senior medics - 3 - to see us and tell us the news.

Thanks for all your kind thoughts. Your support really matters. I will do my best to update this thread when more news comes through.

Thanks for the update Mr T.  It sounds like Debs is getting the best possible treatment and care.  Coffee in proper china - how civilised is that?!  We would be lucky to find a functioning drinks machine....

Make sure you take good care of yourself too, it looks like you will have a bit of home nursing and running around ahead of you.

Love and best wishes to you both.

F

Just a minor update, having spoken to Rouen at 16.30. I had a call this morning asking what blood group Deb is! Not quite my field, so they had to do a test. It emerges that they were giving her a transfusion because she was losing a little, and they wanted to x-ray the arteries in the right knee, where much work must be done. Evidently the x-ray was good, so I think we may expect the op quite soon. I am pencilled in for a visit tomorrow, but will only go if they are confident that I can see her.

Thanks to all for the kind and encouraging messages. Today everything I've done has felt like the deckchair re-arrangement on the Titanic. Being strong is needed, and your support helps. I am lucky that we have a number of Brits hereabouts who are stepping forward, so I am not alone.

More anon.

I only met you both briefly at LM this year, but no one deserves to be put through the sort of angst you are both suffering.

Speedy recovery to Mrs T and stay strong Mr T

Best wishes

I'm only just catching up with getting online after Brian told me about this over lunch yesterday.

Ian, please pass on my best wishes to Debs for a speedy recovery. Thank heavens all her work to ensure ex-pats still receive medical care in France was successful!

Christ almighty, I was wondering why Brian had entitled Lisa's thread "More very sad news" and now I realise.

Ian, please do say hi to her from the Zarses we're all thinking about her, at least it'll stop her smoking for a few days! Any idea what happened to cause such an awful accident? Oh, and make sure you look after yourself too.
