it's a very fine place to throw up in - marvelous!

Trayboy for Pope!
As mentioned previously, I can see you sat on the roof terrace in your underpants, pope hat on... surveying your Vatican... well actually leering at any women or boys that walk past!!

Rex, having initially started this thread and brought to your attention the fact that it was originally for sale, I feel a little bit responsible now.

Maybe I should have a cold Leffe as a penance!

I think that is a fitting punishment for your actions. Hopefully you will be having a cold Leffe on the roof terrace soon.

Just a passing thought while trying to kill the last hour of my day. Should the title of this thread maybe be changed from 'le mans popemobile for sale' to something like 'le mans popemobile/trayboy-mobile project' ?

A name change for the thread would be good as she is no longer for sale. I believe that Mr Pyro would be the one to do that Grin

Just checked out Ferry costs for her and it's nowhere near what I was expecting.....

Britany Ferries Pompey Caen Sunday to Tues... £347. Not bad... £90 more than a car!

Getting tempted.....

Rex, I've just been chatting to a mate of mine who's very familiar with Bedford TKs.  He reckons the diesel engined version should give you 30 mpg and shouldn't be much of a job to carry out an engine swop (although the cab will need to be lifted off).
Bedford TK diesel engines are available via Army surplus.

Its a thought I had been looking into. One to run by the crew and see what they think. We have the facilities down here to do it easily and there is so much room that it may even be achievable without cab removal, using a bit of forest magic!
Engines look to be about £600 ish, up to £800 for a turbo one.... we shall see!!

A turbo Popemobile, whatever next.  Wouldn't a gas turbine be more appropriate?

Would a diesel increase the cruising speed? as a recall that it was a bit slow

Go on, you know it makes sense. Wink

Get a crate of cider, vodka and a CD player in the back, that will amuse the Ladies on the way down. Grin

Then a referb over the winter and a return in all it's glory in 2010. Grin
