European Health Insurance Card renewal
« on: January 09, 2009, 09:03:12 pm »
If , like me you applied for one of these (e111 replacement) when they first came out,  they are only valid for 5 years and mine expires may '09

You can renew on-line (see below)

http://www.nhs.uk/EHIC/Pages/Applyingandrenewing.aspx

Apparently you used the wrong site.
Anyone needing to obtain or renew should use the NHS link given by Tony (mister psycho) above - it's free.

Don't forget your travel insurance when you come over though as the state only pays 60 to 70% of costs here so you have to stump up the rest - even with an EHIC.

Looks like you've been scammed!

Better keep a check on your statements.

My oldest got caught by one of these agency sites when he booked the theory part of his driving test, paid about £15 over the odds.
Cheap for a lesson in life!

But why do government agencies allow other websites to do this? They are surporting a scam. >:(

Yup, it's a scam and I fell for it. This is who I used. Don't use them it will cost you a tenner.

If I had read the statement at the bottom of their page I would have used an official site ::)

Watch out too if you happen to be travelling to the States. There are numerous sites that will charge you for applying for a visa waiver (ESTA) on your behalf but it is free if you go via the official site of the US Customs and Border Protection Agency here: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/esta.html?_flowExecutionKey=_c4B13883D-0384-D4AB-1228-2BC1DC3D3C9A_kB78AC067-F363-E140-F70C-51FE803DFEAA

Step 4 is "Make Payment".

I pretty sure this is the site we used a few months back and there is a charge.

Stu,

The ESTA thing is new it's for travel to the USA.     Untill a few months ago you could just fill out a via waiver for but now you have to do this stupid ESTA thing.
