I'll admit to facebook, it's good for catching up / keeping up with mates, but I'm browsing through here most days.

Don't worry, CA's still at the top of my favourites bar.

Hi Bob et al,
Still here with  you. Our CA community is much more interesting as FS has already pointed out.

and Wokingham meets!

Nothing wrong with having a Wokingham meet in the next couple of weeks. I'm up for it if there is any interest.

Sounds like a fine idea.

It appears to be a global trend to move from forums to social networks like facebook, twitter and many more. Most forums have gone very quiet, CA is not the only one. Of course, a forum is much more suited for a nice conversation, while a social network site is much more about daily life - and if one has only a certain amount of minutes/hours per day to stroll around the www, people tend to go to the busier ones. Not to worry - in a few years something new will appear, and facebook will get quiet too. No need to get harsh, FS :-\

Ahem
My view is that facebook is for kids. If I want to catch up with or keep in touch with my mates I give them a ring (on one of those old fashioned telephone thingies) and usually arrange to meet them down the pub for a good old chat over a couple of pints of foaming ale!
Talking to each other has been the primary means of communication between human beings since language was invented unless of course you're a teenager. The spoken word seems to have served us pretty well.
Facebook, Twitter and whatever are all b*ll**ks and they exist because someone invented them and told us they were a good idea. Progress? My arse!!
I tested negative for patience.

It may be depressing but it's a lot better than the alternative.

Me too.....I'm old and long in the tooth.I have a facebook account and cannot understand the point of posting..say"going to the pub tonight" and the like.

It just seems to me to be pointless making general daily remarks like that.I know I don't post on here as often as I once did,but if I feel if a thread is worth making a comment, even if I or others get the pi** taken ,then fair enough.

I think even with all the social network sites around there is still a place for CA and other dedicated sites. After all the other sites come and go, and after 12years + CA is still here and thriving.
