Just a little something for you.

The lovely A series , a  45 bhp monster covered in all the oil that should be in the engine.

fancy that as your avatar.

Thanks for this Robbo.
It surely is a thing of beauty and is about the same size and power output as my washer fluid motor - though a lot more oily.
It looks like it has had a hard life and no mistake. One careful owner - and 17 lunatics, possibly?
Funny as f**k - well done!

Alloy rocker cover maybe, but did you ever try to change that infernal bypass hose without removing the thermostat housing.   :( :'( :'(

Stick the little hose in the freezer in compression and it becomes much easier. Alternatively boil it to make it more flexible. It's tricky but it can be done.
I wouldn't sit there if I were you, it's still a bit wet.

The other night, my scouser chum said he did it once by hacksawing  a quarter of an inch off the pipe at the bottom, but I like that freezing idea.  I just hope I never need to use it again ;)

Just one in red at the moment although some of the others fancy 3 cars. But it will be mostly me and Gold Fish SPS who put in the hard work.

We will strip it out , remove old A series , ad in 1400cc K series lump from a broken Rover ,put on  a flip font, leave the origional 1000 gear box in, strip interior, replace with roll cage and baby seat ( for Gold Fish and JO jO ) then give it a rally spec workout , and finally nice paint job and the obligatory Union jack roof job.

well thats the idea...

Just need to get into that garage and remove all the old rubbish.. and for the weather to get a little warmer.

Then.........

Oh how this all sounds soooooo familiar!! All the things I wanted to do and more!

I know he's a bit of a trek but Bill Richards is a top chap and want he doesn't know about tweaking Minis etc. ("postage stamp" and "would fit on" spring swiftly to mind!).

He's based in Ashford, Kent - not far from the Eurostar terminal.

http://www.billrichardsracing.com

Spent days down there helping out with my build while the boys did the bizzo on the underbonnet stuff.

Have fun and remember to give us a toot in MB in 2005. Haven't seen a Mini in there since mine in 1997-1999!

Cheers

Rick

I like the "remove the  A and bung in a K" bit, but I amn't convinced you  will get the K to do more than perch ungracefully on top of that 1000 cc gearbox!

I think you will have to persuade the whole K series drive train into the hole. It can be done but I'm buggered if I know enough to helps ya. Metro transplant looks likeliest, then use the 1400cc K to burn the balls off most convoy bound stuff heading Sarthe-wards.

Good luck and have fun.

Very smart - routine maintenance must be "interesting".

I saw a web site the other day where someone was fitting a V8 in the rear of a Mini - mid engine stylee.
The engine was fitted across the rear subframe - I couldn't work out the transmission though.
