As a reformed caravanner I will resist cheap jibes about the obvious.

Instead I will offer my limited caravanning advise in return for use of the onboard facilities rather than having to queue for ages to take an early morning pee.

I trust the fridge will be brimming with beer and the kettle always on?

Is this the end of an era, for this thread?

In the MB days I used to take a caravan, a tattier one than that. 'er indoorz was not happy as the caravan was becoming too knocked about by carrying excessive weight (bikes, flagpoles, gear etc). Massively preferred over a tent though by me.

Possibly heard on Wednesday pm 11th June -

" I have some tarmac left over from a job round the corner - does your bit of  Tetre Rouge campsite need resurfacing ? "
The older I get, the faster I was.

Go on, mock. Mock me to your hearts content. You will be laughing on the other side of your faces when I move into your area, pour old engine oil into your local river and break into your house to rifle through your underwear draw.
I wouldn't sit there if I were you, it's still a bit wet.

The Bloke? I'm sure we can introduce you to "The Bloke" on Bleu Nord in June. If you care to join us on the Friday night he may well be be wearing his best party frock just for you.

Well I'm NOT going to pretend to be shocked   :o

OK I am

but I'm buggered if I'm going to be awed by it

It's just a low rent replacement for my old nemesis the C*****

Which will never pass my lips (or in this particular, gotta be particular, case keyboard) again in Zarse discussionship

Does it fit on a standard EU ACO campsite though?

We must be told

I'm probably missing sonething, but once the delivery bloke has driven his jeep away, how does it work? Where's the driving seat and steering wheel? And the engine?

I'm very happy you found Leigh again Andy, now where's the new Commer?

This film should be played at high volume, so don't come complaining about it! And who the hell is Steve?

Mark, there is no engine or steering wheel, although it does have a fully flushing lavatory, a separate shower room, central heating and a separate bedroom. All of these features are not things of which the poor old Commer could boast. On the other hand, the Modern Commer Replacement does not however have a vermin infestation, fleas and lice in the upholstery, terminal rot, a recalcitrant exhaust system, a wheezing 1725 engine, a Ship's Log of meritorious misdeamours as long as the N138 or a pleasantly winning human personality. So it's a mixed blessing in short; I do miss the Commer and her foibles terribly, but at the end of the day luxury wins out.
